We stayed here for 5 nights in August, and it’s the worst villa experience we’ve had in our many trips to Bali. Location is the only thing that this place has going for it, since it’s walkable to the beach, Atlas, Finn’s, Canggu shops and restaurants. The property is in absolute disrepair, as there has been no pride in maintaining it. Floors full of dust and a live cockroach in the bathroom sink greeted us on arrival. The metal front gate was broken. Tiles are missing from walls. Paint is peeling. Waterproofing on the kitchen side door is a brown duct tape along its length. Towel bar had dropped off the wall leaving holes in the tiles, and there was nowhere to hang stuff in the bathroom. Wifi only works in the kitchen, it does not reach the rooms. Upstairs air con spat water, leaked and was not cold for all 5 nights. No one came to repair it despite us asking every day. The downstairs air con remote stopped working on Day 2. We were passed from Airbnb contact to a local staff, who came to the villa and was extremely apologetic, but also had limitations to how much she could help. We had to ask for amenities like extra towels, enough blankets for everyone at the booked capacity, floor rugs, hairdryer, rather than have these things automatically provided. There’s a dusty old stove kettle, no electric kettle. Utensils drawer had a cockroach visit on Day 3, and cupboards had ants. Cups had brown stains. All the cupboards look 20 years old. Everything has dust on it, even after washing, probably due to construction next door, which kept us up till 2 or 3am with loud machinery noises. There were only 5 forks and 6 spoons for max villa capacity of 12. As some other reviews mention, there are only 6 dining chairs. One safe key was missing. If you’re used to more modern or better managed Bali villas, this will be a shock. Honestly, there are plenty of options in Canggu, and we considered moving as the faults in the villa slowly revealed themselves to us over the days there. We encountered a bat on the roof. On the second last day, our room door handle broke! Incredible! To their credit they got the handle and the metal gate fixed after I unleashed a series of photos cataloguing the issues, and they promised to fix everything. Air con was never fixed till the moment we left though! It’s such a pity, because the villa has so much potential. You should probably ask for more recent photos to check if they really did fix all the problems before you decide to stay. This was the first time I’ve ever felt relieved to leave Bali.
