Do not compare with nearby hotels.A hot spring inn where you can experience over 100 years of history. It is truly an important cultural property. There are signs of deterioration here and there, but I took that as part of the atmosphere of an old inn. I hope you can maintain it somehow. Please do your best in organizing, cleaning, and repair work. The open-air bath was nice. 88 steps not so much. The journey to the open-air bath is impressive. The meal was delicious. I was satisfied.

The open-air bath along the Shikamata River feels great. The indoor bath is a hot spring of different quality, and it is also the best.Taikokan is no longer used as a lodging facility, but it is a very quaint building with a fusion of Japanese and Western styles. As a dining venue, you can enjoy the atmosphere, albeit a little.

Shiobara Onsenkyo boasts over 200 hot springs, with 6 types of hot springs, one of the best in Japan. The great writer Tayama Hanabukuro was the first person in Japan to describe Shiobara with the word "hot spring village".Founded in the mid-Edo period, this shop was especially loved by great literary figures such as Tayama Hanabukuro. Soho Tokutomi highly praised this place, saying, ``It's so quiet, it's like ancient times,'' and the feeling of unity with the river in the famous riverside open-air bath is truly like ancient times.

Visited on 24.08.8(Thu)I became interested after watching a certain YouTuber's video and decided to stay there.【room】It was a room with a toilet and sink. They also have tea and sweets, making it feel like an old-fashioned inn.Since I was staying alone, the refrigerator was empty, so I used it to keep the water I brought with me cold.As other people have mentioned, the building is old, and due to poor construction, insects tend to appear in the rooms. Please be careful if you are not good at it.Additionally, you can raise and lower the futon between dinner and breakfast.[Bath]The open-air bath on the riverbank is steeper than you might imagine. It's better to be prepared. Also, although this passage has a roof, it is mostly outdoors, so there are many insect skeletons. The stairs are narrow and some have steep steps, so elderly people should be especially careful. The quality of the spring itself is neither extremely hot nor lukewarm, making it easy to soak in.The indoor bath seemed a little hotter than the outdoor bath. There were some parts of the wall that had collapsed, so I didn't feel like I could really rest.【cooking】It's a large hall with a little distance from people in other rooms.Mountain and sea foods are also available, and although there is nothing special, it is standard.Breakfast also includes boiled tofu, etc., which are also of standard quality.【service】When I stayed there, there were three foreign workers. I could speak Japanese, and I could see that they were concerned about providing a good service, so I didn't experience any inconvenience. However, as stated on the website, smartphones can only be used in the lobby, so please be aware of that.

I like hot springs. This was my first time staying here as I had been interested in it for a while.(early August)There are two indoor baths: hot and lukewarm.Shampoo, body soap, and face wash were provided. As per the reviews, you have to go down a steep staircase to get to the open air. There is only a changing room (please take your valuables at your own risk).Separated by gender, from 7:00 to 8:00 in the morning is for women only. The lukewarm water is just right and you can stay in it for hours. However, once you come to the open air, there is no water available even if you are thirsty, so if you are going to stay for a long time, it is better to bring your own.The restaurant is located in another building using the stairs. The amount was good, not too much and not too little. There is no air conditioning inside the building (I wonder if it used to be cool!?)There are many pros and cons, but I like hot springs, so the overall rating is 4.However, if you are looking for a clean place or have trouble walking, I think it is best to stay away.

In terms of cost, it was generally good for a free-flowing hot spring with two meals included. WiFi was available in the lobby but not in the rooms.
