The old building has been well taken care of, and I had a relaxing stay with the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese inn. I was told that the hot springs are hot, but since I like hot water, this was the perfect choice for me.Meals also use carefully selected local ingredients. It's been number one on the menu lately for breakfast and dinner, and it's really delicious. The customer service from the caring wife and employees was excellent and I would like to come back again.

I stayed here after seeing the cherry blossoms at Takato Castle Ruins Park during the 2024 cherry blossom season. This has nothing to do with Tetsukosen Honkan, but there was a tragedy before I went to see the cherry blossoms. In the first place, I had planned to go straight from Tokyo to Suwa via the Chuo Expressway, eat Takato soba, see the cherry blossoms, and stay overnight, but that all fell apart due to the accident that occurred at Kobutsu Tunnel just before 7am.At first, the navigation plan was to take the Kanetsu Expressway, enter the Ken-O Expressway at Tsurugashima, and return to the Chuo Expressway, but as time passed, the situation worsened. In the end, we drove on the Kanetsu Expressway, turned to the Joshinetsu Expressway at Fujioka, entered the Chubu Crossroad at Saku, and went through Lake Shirakaba and Suwa... making it an incredible journey that took about 6 hours.I was tired by the time I reached Takato, and the sun was so strong during the cherry blossom viewing that I was exhausted by the time I left the hotel. After staying in the hotel, I first took a bath in the hot springs ♨️, but not only did I sweat in the hot, clean and refreshing hot water typical of Shimosuwa, but I also felt half my fatigue away. For dinner, we had a course of horse meat sushi and beef steamed on a ceramic plate, made with plenty of ingredients from Suwa, Shinshu. The breakfast was also very delicious, using plenty of ingredients from Shinshu.Even my tongue healed meThere is a kotatsu in the guest room so you can relax. There were small heaters in the hallways, toilets, and changing rooms in the large bath, and careful consideration was given to keep the guests from getting cold. The service from the proprietress and all the employees was efficient and soothing, and it was highly rated❗️I may have been a little biased because I was exhausted due to the troubles mentioned above, but even apart from that, it was a very good hot spring inn, and it definitely made me want to go again ❗️I can recommend it!! ️

Good old-fashioned innThe food was hot and delicious. It seems like the food has gotten a lot better than before. The staff are friendly and talkative, and the accommodation is warm. The bath is available 24 hours a day with hot, crisp water.Above all, very oldThe inn may seem run down to some people, but it's really clean and feels great. It's a nice inn where you can really enjoy what you'd call a ``long-established'' restaurant.

This inn is reminiscent of the good old days along the old Nakasendo road, and I think it's a nice inn with a great atmosphere, good food, and a place where you can relax. The word "inn" is perfect.
