I think this is a hotel for going to the snowy mountains, but on this day I stayed to participate in the Shiga Kogen hill climb race. Dinner is very satisfying with its large volume and variety of items. The large public bath is also large enough to accommodate about 10 people. On this day, I checked out at 14:00, so I was able to take a bath and take a nap after the race. It was comfortable.

We had a amazing three day ski trip to Villa Alpen.||The Captain, his wife the chef, his ski instructor son (Ken-San), Nami, and the entire staff were so genuinely warm and helpful throughout our visit! …

My family visited this hotel between Sunday 17 and Wednesday 20 2023 and we fell in love with the location and the staff. The Captain, his wife, his son Ken, and assistant Nami were so helpful and warm and welcoming. The rooms at the Villa are traditional Japanese style but spacious and had aircon and were quite warm. If you want a private shower or a western style bed then order the Western room, otherwise you will be sleeping on futons and need to wash in the showers at the public male and female onsens (as we were the only family there it definitely made it easier). Each room had private toilets; they were a little tricky to flush but you just had to jiggle it a bit.The bus stop to the ski slopes and snow monkeys are a 200m walk from the villa so an easy walk. There was a ski slope right outside of the villa but unfortunately we were there too early for it to be open. Ken was super helpful in fitting us in snow gear and recommending which slopes to go to for beginners such as ourselves. We arranged for breakfast and dinner at the Villa and the food (by Nami) was great. The bar was so nice to chill and unwind at the end of each night; playing card games or trying the fruit wine or local beers (Tip: ask Nami to play on the piano as she is amazing!)The English skills of the Captain, Ken and Nami are all fantastic so there were no problems in asking questions about anything.Highly recommended. My family are already planning when we can go back.

Stayed here to participate in the Shiga Kogen Hill Climb. The room felt like a training camp, but I felt comfortable and relaxed. Although it was summer and we were the only ones participating in the event, the dinner was delicious and looked like we had put in a lot of effort. Even though breakfast was early in the morning, it was rich in carbohydrates and made me feel energetic. It's great to take a bath after the event is over. I don't ski, so I don't know much about winter, but I'm very satisfied with where I stay during the summer Shibutoge bike ride.

A ski inn run by a family of former professional skiers. I stayed here in the summer to escape the heat. Enjoy warm hospitality, delicious and carefully prepared meals, and a 24-hour hot spring bath for a comfortable stay. It's close to a firefly colony, so you can enjoy fireflies and the starry sky at night.I recommend this hotel, run by an ex professional skier and his family. Their hospitality is strongly amazing. The meal is heartfully cooked and fantastic. This hotel suits skiing but in summer, we can enjoy coolness and watching fireflies.Je'aime beaucoup cet hôtel. Le repas est très bon. Les possesseres de l'hôtel sont sympa.
