This is a Japanese inn located in Akakura Onsen, located about an hour drive away from Yamagata Station. The inn only accepts 2 parties per day.Room: Although the exterior of the inn may look a bit dated, the room looks like it's been recently rennovated with newer furnishings. The bed is traditional futon, which is very firm, but relatively comfortable. There is a private toilet and the bath is at the onsen right outside the room. There is a beautiful view of the river alongside the inn. This was quite spacious for my wife and I when we stayed here. Overall very clean and very comfortable.Service: Straightforward service by the very nice hosts. They showed me the room and confirmed the time for our meals. No complains whatsoever about the service.Food: One of the highlights of staying here. I would give the food a 6/5 if I could. The food was made from locally sourced ingredients. I never knew vegetables could taste so amazing. The dinner was a traditional course menu with a variety of appetizers, main dishes, and dessert. The highlight was the fried eggplant with meat sauce, which was very juicy. Breakfast was served with a number of vegetable dishes along with marinated salmon and a local Yamagata soup.Onsen: The main highlight of the inn is the large rock onsen. This is right downstairs from the guest rooms. Since we were the only guests, we were able to enjoy the onsen anytime we wanted. The onsen was on the hot side, but it was very relaxing once you get acclimated. The minerals in the onsen helps you get rid of fatigue and is very good for your skin. I slept really well after a dip. Make sure you wash your body first before getting in.Location: This location isn't the easiest to get to without a car. I would definitely recommend getting a rental car when coming here. The area surrounding the inn is beautiful with expansive fields and a flowing river.Overall, this was an amazing experience. The food, onsen, and the hospitality made me not want to leave. This is located in an area of the Yamagata countryside where the population is on the older side. What was once a bustling small town has quieted down considerably. If you want a very authentic Japanese experience, this is it. This is the place where you can experience the real Japan.

When I called to see if it was possible to take a day trip bath (as it is officially possible to do so), no one came. The entrance to the annex is barred with wood and cannot be entered. When you look inside the main building, you'll see personal belongings piled up, and it doesn't feel like inviting customers. When a guest who has booked a room arrives, the entrance may be tidyed up... Although I had planned to take a day trip bath at Akakura Onsen, I was unable to do so. Akakura Onsen apparently has steam tickets, but are they actually sold?

First time at Akakura Onsen. They said they were only accepting 2 groups, but since we were the only ones on the day, it was practically reserved.Feel luxurious as you can enjoy the rock bath as much as you want. The customer service was simple, but I felt sincerity. The food exceeded my expectations. I was very satisfied with the taste and quantity. You should try the optional beef stew.I also received the Daiginjo sake comparison set, which was a good choice. The rooms are spacious Japanese-Western style. The facility itself is probably quite old, but the equipment has been modernized.Honestly, there are some small details that bother me.(Difficulty cleaning small areas, adjusting the shower in the bathroom, etc.)However, I had a lot of experiences that made up for it.It may not be suitable for people who evaluate using the subtraction method, but if you look at it using the addition method, it's a 5 star including cost performance. In terms of cost performance, I personally felt it was cheap. This is an inn I would like to visit again.

First visit to Akakura Onsen in YamagataI decided to stay at this inn because I was attracted by the food and the rock bath. This is an inn located at the far end of the hot spring town, and we were told that only two groups could be accommodated per day, but since we were the only ones on the day, we had a luxurious private stay. The person who handled everything from reception to guidance was probably the owner's son. It's good that you guided me carefully even though you are young. The rock bath in the bath has a great atmosphere and is just as impressive as the photo. It looks better in the morning than in the evening, perhaps because of the position of the window that lets in the light. However, it is a little inconvenient that the temperature of the hot water is high and that the means to add water is a bucket relay.Does the temperature change with the seasons? It would be even better if the temperature was a little lowerAs for the food, I have no complaints!Very satisfied with both quantity and quality! It was a creative dish with lots of vegetables, but it was a full course that started with an appetizer.Since we had such a dinner, of course we couldn't go wrong with breakfast either. The imoni is especially delicious! The beef soup stock was delicious and had lots of taro in it.I think the building of the inn itself is quite old, but various parts have been renovated and I didn't feel any inconvenience, but I felt like there wasn't enough cleaning in the small areas, perhaps because there wasn't enough manpower.Maybe some people are interested?Overall, I personally give it around 4.8 points. It was an inn that I really wanted to support, so I would like to come again.

Great cost performance! I was worried that I had made a single digit mistake. Only two groups are accepted per day, so it's quiet and relaxing. A luxurious time in a splendid rock bath hot spring. The food was typical of Yamagata, and the Mogami beef steak and beef stew for dinner, and the boiled potatoes for breakfast, were all delicious. Playful locust tsukudani. The serious-looking young man was kind to me. I will stay here again. The only negative point, raise the price!

Used for overnight stay on Sunday.Only 2 groups can stay overnight. There are two indoor baths, a large bath and a small bath. The open-air bath is attached to the large bath side, but it seems to be currently closed. This time we were the only group, so we only used the large bath. Was it your son who took care of you from check-in to check-out? Young master?A simple and businesslike response. I want a little more flexibility. He seems to be still young, so I hope that things will change for the better in the future.Aside from that, I think you should be careful about your appearance. Her hair is messy and she's wearing a jersey... If you have a work uniform, I think it would be better. From the reviews, I was told that the customer service of the husband and the landlady was good, but unfortunately I had almost no opportunity to interact with either of them.Overall, I felt that the hospitality was weak, or rather I didn't feel welcomed.●Good points·cookingI was satisfied with the quality and quantity of both morning and evening meals. However, the beef stew is quite strange. I felt that it was a soup rather than a stew, and it was terrible. But other than that, it was delicious.●Bad points・CleanlinessAs with the inside of the hotel, the facilities in the hotel and guest rooms, as well as the changing rooms, including the wash basins, are not very clean.Especially the floor of the changing room... I think there are various reasons, but I think it would be better to fix it.The hot spring water is probably fresh, but it doesn't seem like it's being replaced. I apologize if I misunderstood, but I would like you to do your best in terms of cleaning.・Water pressureThere are two toilets with showers in the washing area, but in both cases the water pressure is strong but the water pressure is weak. Since it is a type that uses hot water and cold water to adjust the temperature, the only way to get the temperature right is to squeeze the hot water. As a result, the water pressure in the shower becomes weak. Very inconvenient.・SecurityAfter checking in, I decided to go out for a walk and left my key at the front desk, but there was no one inside the hotel.I thought about carrying the key with me, but I didn't want to get in trouble, so I searched the doorbell at the front desk, the extension line in the guest room, and the whole building to try to contact them, but I couldn't find anyone. When I called the hotel from my cell phone, I was able to get in touch, but I wasted so much time that I was tired.I was told to leave the key at the front desk, but when I returned, the key was still there... which made me worried.●SummaryThe good things are good, the bad things are bad. I felt that it was an inn with clear pros and cons. It seems like it will sting some people.Personally, I thought it was a disappointing accommodation in many ways.

I stayed for one night in mid-December.The overall impression is that of a homely, family-run inn. When we were there, only one group was reserved, so we were able to enjoy the hot springs slowly, and the food was delicious overall. There was a Western-style plate, which was a little different from the usual composition, and the beef stew was the only one that was disappointing. My impression is that it was successful. The hot springs were colorless and transparent, so I thought they wouldn't be very strong, but I felt pretty tired from the baths and fell asleep early. It was my first time at Akakura Onsen, but I was impressed by the surprisingly good hot springs. Although there were some flaws, such as the proprietress apparently being absent, this is an inn that I would like to support, and I sincerely hope that it can continue like this. I would definitely like to visit again this year.

It was a day trip, but since there were no other customers, we had the large rock bath reserved for us!It felt so luxurious!
