I used to go camping with my family at the cottage. I'm currently working at a forest site at a touring camp. You can relax at the site next to the stream.

There wasn't much rain and the amount of water was very low ~ The water was clear when no one was around, but everyone was jumping in and it was muddy... but it was fun ☺

I went there in June and it was a very nice campsite. Since I was solo, I chose the free site, and it wasn't crowded even on a Saturday. It was very relaxing. The free site is quite narrow, so it's difficult for large cars.Due to the timing and the proximity to the river, there were leeches. You may want to avoid sandals and wear long socks or spats if possible. When I took a shower in the morning, I was surprised to find that it was stuck to my ankle lol. When I went home, it was sucked all day long, so please be careful. The guy at the reception was very friendly, so I would like to use him again (^^)

I visited you on a weekday on Wednesday and Thursday, and it was great! Most of the free forest sites are reserved for private use, and it feels great to listen to the sound of the river while being surrounded by trees. There are quite spacious sites at the bottom of the forest, so some people pitched large tents that could accommodate more than 6 people. The toilet is also flushable and safe.At night, the street lights outside the restrooms were always on, which made it feel a bit less like a camp, which was a shame, but it was safe because it was easy to see your feet when you went to the restrooms.

Summer of 2023. I used a free site in the forest for a day trip.■Free siteYou can drive in to unload your cargo, but after that you will have to park your car in the parking lot at the bottom of the slope.Since the site is located in a forest, it was relatively cool even on hot summer days.Places are first come, first served. The ground is gravel and sand and is quite rough. We recommend bringing strong pegs. Also, there are many large stones, so it's a good idea to remove the stones and bring a thick mat before setting up your tent.Large vehicles (Hiace, etc.) can enter the area in front of the free site, but as you move towards the back, it becomes difficult. I think people with large vehicles should be especially careful. There was plenty of road width on the campsite side of the section. The toilet was located in the administration building and I used it. There is a western style toilet. It wasn't that pretty.■River playThere is a stream near the site where you can enjoy a little play in the river. It's a good idea to bring a swimsuit. When I removed the stone, there was a swamp crab. The children had fun collecting creatures.I think you can catch a large number of crabs if you have a breeding case or a plastic bottle cut in half.*If captured, please release it.As we climbed deeper into the site, we saw many waterfalls and people enjoying canyoning. If you wear anti-scratch sports innerwear, a life jacket, and a helmet, you can enjoy waterfall sliding.I often saw people walking for canyoning. My child was too quick to slide down waterfalls, so we played in the basin downstream of the waterfall. The area around the waterfall basin was over 130cm deep. There are some shallow parts, but the water can get deep quickly, so be careful with small children.■Shop/Shower/MealsThe Fureai Center is located near the entrance, and has a restaurant, shop, and showers.Beverages, beer, and processed specialty products were sold at the shops. I think it's best not to expect too much and just bring what you can.Meals are served from 10:00 to 17:00, but when I visited, they closed earlier. I think it's best to call in advance if you want to use it. Please take a look at the menu in the photo. There was a Coca-Cola vending machine.■AccessYamazaki IC or Yumesaki Smart Interchange are the closest.Yumesaki Smart Interchange is closer, but since the road is long with one lane in each direction and has a speed limit of 40km/h, I think Yamazaki IC may be more comfortable to drive in some situations. Please be careful of deer when driving near campgrounds at night. We wandered around a lot, passing each other three times on the way from the campsite to the city. If the car in front of you has stopped unnaturally, be careful when passing. We may be waiting for deer to cross.■ShoppingIt takes about 20 minutes one way to get to the nearest supermarket. If you go shopping, you need to spend about an hour looking at it.It's easier to buy it the day before and take it from home.
