A hidden gem about 40 minutes by car from Nagano city.It is a campground with a history of over 40 years. It is a valuable place where you can enjoy an open fire these days.Although it is not suitable for beginners, it was a campsite that I would like to visit again. It seems that a nearby individual is currently managing it, but since it is said to be over 80 years old, I am worried about its future management. So I think it's a bit unreasonable to want this and that. Well, it would be helpful if it were a little cheaper (^_^;)■SiteBasically free. The campsite is located on a slope, and there are separate flat areas where you can pitch your tent. There is a stone oven next to it, and the charcoal is also left unattended. It was too big for solo use, so I reassembled the stones and used it. The ground is hard soil. The peg could be inserted using the sole of the shoe. There are also a lot of trees growing there, so you can probably use them as well. Also, there is a large space in front of the administration building, and it seems like you can pitch a tent here as well. However, it's probably too hot and sunny.■Equipment sideThere aren't many people, so it's hard to invest in equipment, and since it's a pump-type toilet, some people may be reluctant to use it.I can't help but feel that the water fountain is old, but I don't have any problems as long as the water comes out, so it was enough for me.At night, the light bulbs were only on in the administration building. (The toilet also has electricity.)Of course there are no showers. You should come prepared.■SafetyThey say they see wild boars and deer, but they haven't seen a bear for at least 10 years. Perhaps because it is located deep in the mountains, there were no outsiders coming or going.■AccessFrom the city, aim for the Togakushi Geological and Fossil Museum, and from there follow the signs to get there. ...When you arrive, you will pass through a dimly lit mountain road where there will be almost no cars for the last five minutes. I went to the area above the campsite, but there were also traces of small falling rocks, so be careful of punctures.■Location, surroundingsThere are no convenience stores or even vending machines nearby, so be prepared. There is a hot spring facility about 20 minutes away by car.At the bottom of the mountain near the campsite, there is a small stream that some people use to cool down their drinks.

At first glance, there was no one there, it was in ruins, the tent was still pitched, there was a brand new Goemon bath with a great view, and no one was there, as if I had been spirited away.It seems that it is outsourced to the private sector and only takes reservations.

I used it for day camp. The road to get there is narrow, but there are rarely oncoming cars, so it's okay. You can also play in the river, so it's perfect for families with children unless you hate insects.

When I visited it before, it looked so dilapidated that it could be mistaken for a ruin, but I was surprised to see how clean it was now.The bungalow used to have an atmosphere that would make you feel cursed if you stayed there, but the wall panels have been renovated and it gives off a cool aura that makes it look like it's smiling at you. Also, the bath is a huge hagama Goemon bath. It's a wood-burning bath, so it takes a lot of work, but the view is great, with a clear view of the village on the other side of the mountain.Unfortunately, I feel that the price is a little high.Aside from the ¥1,300 per tent you bring in, I wonder about the parking fees and other things.I think it can't be helped if it's a crowded campsite, but when I'm told that I'll be charged ¥300 for a motorcycle even though I have a lot of space to use by myself, I think, ``It doesn't have to be this campsite, it's a more major nearby campsite.'' Let's go. There's a store over there..."I think it's a good campsite, but it's a campsite with a lot of regrets.

There was only running water, a toilet, and a stove made of stones. It's better to have nothing. You can enjoy real camping. The toilet is a bit... it might be scary for children.

I visited for a preview in late June. I had my eye on a local campground, but I guess I wouldn't choose this one.It was around noon on Saturday, but there were no campers or staff members there. I took a quick tour of the grounds, and it seemed a little run down, giving the impression of a campsite that was not open for business. However, the pricing is quite high...I didn't actually stay there, so I gave it a 3 rating.

I like that it's not too well maintained. You can buy firewood, but be sure to prepare it in advance. There is only a stove dug into the earth on the slope, a cooking area, and a toilet.
