What an amazing cottage. First off, you will like this place if you prefer to stay somewhere off road, quiet and remote. The entry to the cottage is a little tough to find even if you drive but the owner is kind enough to arrange to meet first and will lead you to the cottage itself. It is an eco lodge that is pretty small in size but homely. The kitchen is well stocked with condiments and various cooking equipment in case you intend to cook at the place. There's even guides which the owner put up to ensure that foreigners (it's written in English) knows how to use the futons in the right way.The outdoors is filled with a field of lotus(?) type of plant which is pretty scenic from the window.

Midori is a fantastic host who speaks beautifully English and understand western countries mind. The sanctuary she created at the cottage is heaven. A unique experience for any visitor of this region to feel the deep nature and the strong energy of the mountain.I choose hutte lied because I had to spend few days at the brand new distillery of Komoro for intense work. I did want to go in any fancy hotel of distant Karuizawa.Every morning I felt blessed to hike the forest instead of taking a bus.Every evening I felt blessed to enter the mysterious forest then this very traditional Japanese house.I come to visit Japan for 15 yearsThis is the stay I was dreaming about. On the top of this experience I highly recommend to visit the shop of Midori and her husband, traditional beautiful local craft objects and gifts as Kintsugi, wood sculpture and paper art.Don’t forget to have a bit of Fiji apple, a taste that you will not forget…Thank you so much MidoriI will be back soon

Used on Airbnb. The hosts are kind, and you can have a BBQ on the covered terrace (extra charge) and relax in the forest. We were able to have a BBQ even in the rain. However, there's no TV and there's nothing around in the forest, so I might be left idle at night.

Hutte Lied is a cute cottage ran by a friendly lady named Midori who speaks fluent English. The cottage is set in the woods with a path in the back and ample local critters running around (we saw racoon dogs every day of our stay!). It's decency close (10 min walk) to a bus stop that can take you to town or to the nearby Mt Adama area. We stayed here in the winter (Mar) and it was very cold to walk around, so this might be better in the summer if you don't have a car. The train station is an hour walk according to Maps. The cottage itself has many heaters and thick blankets. There is a small bath/shower and small kitchen with all the utensils you could need to cook (stove, microwave, toaster oven, rice cooker, coffee pot, fridge) as well as plates. Midori is super nice and helpful and has a BUNCH of information about her town. Her shop is just up the street too where you can buy outdoor knick knacks and learn kinstuigi, the art of Japanese pottery repair.
