Thank you for your help while walking Nakasendo. At best, it feels like a long-established inn, but the toilet was not equipped with a washlet and the price was high. Although it was small, there was a hot spring and Wi-Fi was available.

We were blown away by our experience at this hotel! We only came to have lunch but was amazed by its 600year old history. This place looks simple from the outside but since they have tried to maintain its look and as it was renovated a hundred years ago ago, you’ll appreciate why they haven’t changed it.They gave us our own private room with our name on the door! (We made a reservation the day before). It was a simple room with tatami and a traditional tea room feel but when our food came it was more than what we expected! The presentation was impressive and we had more than our fill! For the price and experience, it was well worth it!This place has hosted samurai shoguns from the old edo period. The rooms are named after the famous people who stayed there. A famous artist of Ukiyoe also stayed in the second floor. While waiting for your table you get to drink their special homegrown sweet tea “Amacha” that doesn’t have any sugar but is sweet! The tea is served with their special mountain spring water which is famous for taking a bath with (onsen). It is therapeutic and known to change color depending on the day. It even moisturizes and whitens the skin.If you don’t know Japanese, bring your google translate to read the various signs so you know their significance. My food was the Saku Saku meal with crab, chicken, ham, cheese (1800 yen) and my husband ordered the Hirekatsu which is fillet cutlets. (2000 yen)These were served with pickled vegetables and salad and desert included. The staff are very accommodating but I don’t think they know Japanese. Ask them if you can take photos and they will allow you. They have a special guide to know where the historical items are but respect their rules as not all are open for viewing.Highly recommended place!

I used it on a business trip!Saku Hotel has a long history in Saku. I visited by myself because I wanted to try some carp dishes.First of all, the front desk staff was very polite. Dinner was included on the day, but the explanation was very easy to understand, and we were given a luxurious private room.Order the 5,300 yen course and enjoy carp dishes. Saku's carp dishes have no odor at all, and the carp koku and umani meat is fluffy. The internal organs were moist and full of flavor. The employee explained that the umani soup has been added since the company's founding, and it goes perfectly with the rice! That was recommended to me, and it was true. An indescribable richness and flavor of sweet and spicy... I ended up getting a second helping of rice. The carp's roughness, carp body, and fried foods are also delicious and go well with alcohol. Saku's local sake, Kanrin, served hot. The sake called Matsegawa, which the inn has been making since the Edo period, is also delicious.Although it is a yellowish liquor, it has a sweet taste and is easy to drink. There is a wide variety of items, and they are delicious and reasonably priced. It was a very satisfying meal. And the hot springs are the best. I was told that this is a hot spring where the color of the water changes depending on the situation, but this time it was cloudy. The hot water containing Takeda Shingen is moist and just the right amount of heat to soothe your body. It's a little small, but it didn't bother me too much.My room was a single bed room because I was alone, but although it was old, it was clean and comfortable.Coffee brewed in the hot springs, homemade mugwort shochu, and sweet tea (mysterious flavor) were available for free and at reasonable prices, but I was able to really enjoy Saku. There are historical works of art inside the inn, and it's a historic inn that you definitely want to visit!
