We stayed at Takakos place for three days and it was an amazing time. Zamami is very beautiful. Takako is very friendly. Due to the old building you can hear the other guest, so bring oropax with you! Takako owns a very cute cat (Kiki) which let you pet him.

I live in Okinawa and this island was the perfect trip to get away for some nights. The host also rents electric scooters, perfect for us lazy Americans!

Had the best time in Homestay Kucha! We stayed here for 5 nights and felt very much relaxed. The room we stayed in was really nice and the bedding was comfortable. I felt taken care of by the host. I’m vegan and the host prepared for me delicious meals. The location is great, it’s a bit away from the port but the beach nearby is really nice and secluded. It’s easy to get to the port because a bus stop is close.

If you want to feel like one of the island's inhabitants during your trip, this place is for you! Kucha is a cozy, homely home, run by a lovely lady who takes care of all the needs of her guests. The meals she prepares are wholesome and delicious! As a person on a vegan diet, I have never eaten such wonderful food in Japan! In Kucha you can also rent swimming equipment at a very attractive price. I really recommend this place with all my heart! ♥️

Simple but charming place about a 5min bus ride/30 min walk from the port in a tranquil surroundings. The host is very nice and keeps the place meticulously clean. Beds are quite comfortable too and the room is simple but cozy. The meal option is highly recommended, as she’s also a great cook, especially breakfast is wonderful. The homestay also provides several things for free (beach towels, tarps, water shoes…) and to rent (masks, snorkel, electric scooters, freezer boxes…) but for much cheaper compared to the nearby beaches and/or the port. Things like ice cream or beer are also available for purchase (free whisky after dinner!), coffee and tea are for free. You got to eat dinner with other guests, which is a nice way to socialize. Other than the main beaches that you need to reach by bus, bike or a “longer” walk (20 min to Furuzamami), there are couple of beautiful deserted beaches just 5 min away, even if it might not seem so at a first sight (just need to find them…hint: just continue walking by the shore left from the Asa port, passing the village beach-dirty-and pass a little cliff…) which are all for yourselves. Overall, highly recommended! Of course, if you search for a resort type all inclusive type of accommodation, go elsewhere.

This homestay is located on the island of Zamami, in the neighborhood of Asa (away from the harbor and main activities and beaches). It is a traditional building run by a friendly lady. The bathroom is shared, with Japanese-style toilet and a simple spacious shower. The rooms are authentic but very hot. There is air conditioning but it does not work well and costs 100 yen per hour.Beds are comfortable but with acrylic sheets and hot. There is a bus connection from the port from 9 am to 5 pm, about every hour. Otherwise it is a 30-minute walk but with no lighting, so if you want to spend time at the harbor or a restaurant in the evening or want to extend to the beach the walk is in the dark. There are a few drink machines in the area but no businesses or restaurants or bars. The lady also offers to have breakfast (1500 yen) and dinner (2000 yen). The dinner is traditional but we did not like it much, comparing with the amazing meals we had at the port. In addition, the price is relatively high compared to the prices at the port but valuable given the distance and the in-house preparation.Recommended only if you cannot find a much lower price than the port area, otherwise it is not worth it!

Tatako San is an amazing host, she paid a lot of attention to details to make your stay comfortable, for example free capsule coffee over beautiful Okinawan glasses. Her homemade breakfast and dinner were simple but delicious, there aren’t a lot of dining options in Asa so make sure you book for that. The rooms are simple and cozy we slept really well. The prices for renting snorkeling gears like masks and fins are much lower compared to other parts of the town. You can also borrow beach towels, beach shoes and sun glasses for free. She is super helpful and friendly we had such a pleasant stay will definitely be back. The location is tranquil and nice, 1 min walk from bus stop, 5 mins bus ride from the ferry port (please check bus schedule). We had a walk towards the cove of Asa on our first night around sunset time and we saw a tiny baby shark swam by!
