As a reward for my long-term work, I went to Akataki Kosen, one of the three major mineral springs in Tochigi. This hot spring inn was discovered during the Edo period and has been protected by the family to this day.The approach to the inn is off-road on a steeply sloping forest road. I feel the hard work of our predecessors who pioneered this place. The road isn't wide, so even if you have a 4WD, you need to be careful about number 3, and you'll probably have to turn around at the hairpins. This road is the world of light 4WD. (^_^;)The wood is made of good wood with a sweet smell of smoke, and hot water is boiled for solo guests.I can hear birds chirping and the river flowing. For those working in the city, doing nothing or thinking about nothing may be a luxurious way to spend your time.Soak in hot water every hour. The white towel will soon turn orange. Currently, bathing hours are from 7:00 to 20:45.As the sun sets, dinner will be brought to your room. This volume is a treat in a mountain valley. The ceiling and beams of the room are smoked in the hearth to provide a natural insect repellent effect. You will be overwhelmed by the architectural techniques of the master carpenters of the past. It will be easy for another 100 years. Please do not just stay for one night, but stay for several nights.Enjoy the luxury of doing nothing. There was no problem with the internet environment as there was Wi-Fi.

Day useBusiness confirmationIf you call or go to the location, there will be a notice posted. I think it's a good idea to give it a try since the phone sounds nice. Kotaki Mineral Spring is right nearby, so if you haven't done it yet, you can go to Kotaki.AmenitiesNothing. Bring water. When I washed my hair, water came out of the faucet. No hair dryer. (It feels good, so I feel like it will come out if I listen to it)accessCan't get there with Google Maps. We recommend setting it at Kotaki Mineral Springs. You can tell where to turn right or left because there is a large signboard for Kotaki Kosen. If you go straight, there is a place where you can park 3.4 cars, so park there and walk for 3 minutes. If your car is strong enough for mountain roads, you can go directly to Akataki Mineral Springs.I've been to all the mineral springs in Yaita, but I think this one is the strongest. Mothers are kind and kind. It felt like I was visiting a relative's aunt.

One of Yaita's three major mineral springs (?)Quite bitter old-fashionedIs it a facility or an inn?It has a secluded feel and a secret hot spring feel. That's a good thing. For those who are used to spa springsI guess it's not suitable.

We stayed at the end of November. When I called about a week in advance to make a reservation, I was asked if it would be okay even though it is an old inn. That's what I said. it's okay.If you deviate from the thick road and go a little further, you will come to a branch with Kotaki Mineral Springs, so take the road to the right. There is an open parking lot at the bottom of the steep slope, so let's park there. From there, you can walk down a steep slope for about 5 minutes to arrive. When I arrived around 4 o'clock, the landlady was boiling the bath with firewood.I was the only one staying that night, and my room was at the very back. You can see the garden and waterfall from the clean room. There is a kotatsu and a stove so you can stay warm.I had a thick futon with several blankets, and I was given some charcoal before bed, so I was able to sleep warmly. TV is available for a fee of 100 yen per hour. The food was home-cooked with lots of variety and very delicious. (The photo shows dinner)The most important part is the bath, but since the water is boiled with firewood and is quite hot as it is, we adjust the temperature to the appropriate temperature by running cold water from the source. Even so, the temperature is quite high and you can warm up while feeling the smell of firewood. The baths are open until 10pm, and from 7am in the morning, so I think you can enjoy them to your heart's content. I've been there 3 times. Please be careful of heat shock as the temperature difference is quite large. The atmosphere of the building had a historical feel to it, but it was kept clean and I felt at ease. Also, the hostess was very personable and we had a great time.Accommodation cost was 7,700 yen for one night with two meals included, and 7,800 yen including bathing tax of 100 yen. (November 2023) I would like to stay again. Please give it a try.(*Please note that radio waves cannot be received)

Get off at Yaita Kita Smart IC on the Tohoku Expressway, go north on Prefectural Route 30, and turn left onto Prefectural Route 56 (Happo Road) just before passing through Tohoku Expressway. After driving for a while, you will see Yaita Country Club and then an elderly care facility on your right. If you go a little further ahead, you will come to a Y-junction, and if you go to the left, you will see a large sign that says ``Prefectural Forest'', so turn left and follow the road until you enter the mountain pass. After a while, there is an unpaved mountain road-like road on the left, and at the entrance there is a small sign with red handwritten letters that says ``Akataki Kosen Entrance'' and a large sign that says ``Kotaki Kosen Entrance.'' There, turn left there. There is a fork in the road at the top of the hill, and if you turn left and go to the end, you will find Kotaki Kosen. If you go straight down the hill, you will come to a slightly open area, but that is the parking lot for Akataki Kosen. If you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle such as a jeep, you can go down a fairly steep slope to the side of the building, but if you have a regular car, you can park your car in this parking lot and walk for about 3 minutes.By the way, today (Sunday, November 19, 2023), there was unfortunately a sign in the parking lot saying "We will be closed today"... (´;ω;`)ゥゥUnfortunately, I wasn't able to take a bath this time, but I think anyone who loves quiet hot springs will definitely be satisfied here!

I went there to see Akataki on my bike. You can see it from the Akataki forest road, but you can't reach it without making a big detour. If you go down a narrow side road from the prefectural road from Happogahara to Yaita, it becomes an unpaved road, and as you go down the road, which is probably rough due to heavy rain, you will see a sign that says ``Park here if you don't have a 4WD.''No, no, I thought it would be impossible because it was already on the road in front of me, so I decided to go ahead with the bike, but I immediately regretted it.I tried to make a U-turn to go back, but it was narrow, steep, and the footing was bad, so I struggled to get back. However, I exhausted my efforts and withdrew 😢
