This is a wonderful inn that is a 120-year-old traditional house that has been renovated into a modern Japanese style. It is run by a husband and wife, and the wife's parents also live together. Although I was traveling alone, I received a very warm welcome. There were many things that moved me, such as the snow tiles that I had never seen before, the large beams in the dining room, and a real wood-burning stove. Every corner of the room, including the bathroom and toilet, was clean and comfortable. There are many power outlets in the guest rooms, and there is also a USB power source in the bed, which is a great feature for those who use smartphones and tablets. While the couple prepared dinner, we sat in the dining room drinking alcohol and chatting, feeling as relaxed as if we were visiting a relative in the countryside. After dinner, we lit a bonfire in the backyard and looked up at the stars. There was nothing around, so it was very quiet at night, and the only sounds I could hear were the sounds of insects and the crackling of the bonfire, and I was able to immerse myself in the extraordinary. There is also a repeat discount, so I would like to visit again in a different season. Free Wi-Fi available. AirPay (credit card, transportation IC card, QR code) can be used.

On a cycling trip from Shiga to Obama, my two friends and I had booked to stay overnight @ Koharu (September 15/16, 2024). Wow - what can I say…and what a fantastic time we all had at Koharu from the minute we arrived till the time that we left. On arrival we were greeted by the super friendly hosts of Nobu, Yuki, and Toshi. And when we left they were out on the road waving us off. Their generous hospitality was incredible and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome in their wonderful old Kominka. The food was delicious and we all had a great time talking with together them. It was so much fun and we had a great night together. I can’t recommend their wonderful Minshuku high enough and I can’t wait to go back and stay again! Infinite thanks Nobu, Yuki and Toshi for a truly fantastic time staying at your delightful Minshuku. Everything was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you! We will be back!

``Koharu'' has been renovated in a very fashionable way while retaining the charm of a 120 year old private house. You will be very satisfied with the heartfelt hospitality of the friendly couple and the main dish, which is A5 rank Wakasa beef. The fireplace and bath were also great. This time I stayed in a traditional Japanese-style room, so next time I would like to stay in a new Western-style room. (In other words, you want to repeat it)I have very fond memories of being able to visit when the cherry blossoms were still in bloom, and being able to walk around the inn with my grandpa in the cherry blossom snowstorm.thank you very much.

It was a very beautiful and quiet inn in an old private house ♡After checking in, the hostess kindly talked to me about various things and it was a warm stay. This time I had a great deal and the food was delicious and I was able to eat things that I wouldn't normally get. The bathroom and the room were all kept clean, and the amenities were stylish, so it was as sophisticated as a hotel. The couple who owned the inn were also very nice people and I got to know them. Thank you very much♡I will definitely repeat it again ♡

This is a clean and comfortable guest house that has been renovated from an old private house that gives you a sense of history. This is a homely inn where you are warmly welcomed by your family, including grandparents. We also enjoyed delicious local sake and Wakasa beef steak. It was a great commemoration of my mother's birthday. I would love to hear from you again.

Stayed with a family of 4.While listening to the peaceful sounds of nature, I was healed by the warm customer service of everyone at Koharu. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and I was especially surprised at how tender and juicy the Wakasa beef was.In the morning, I took a leisurely walk around the village with my grandpa, enjoying the history of the area and the peaceful countryside. For us, who are used to living in the city, there was a sense of nostalgia and security that felt like a second home, and we wanted to visit again. We recommend the local sake “Tamu no Megumi”!

While retaining the character of an old folk house built 120 years ago, such as the thick beams, the renovated areas are clean and comfortable. This is the perfect inn for those who want to spend a relaxing time. The unpretentious personality of the host couple. And many heartfelt hospitality.I could feel that they were welcoming guests with all their heart. It's a mountain village, so it's very quiet.Calm down. All of the dishes are carefully prepared and taste excellent. The Wakasa beef steak was very tender and delicious. The room, the washroom, the bathroom, the toilet... Every detail was taken care of and I had a very comfortable stay.I gave it a high rating because I was able to get to the location smoothly without getting lost by following the navigation system and it was easy to understand.

It was a wonderful family trip (^^)When I was leaving, my son, who was still in elementary school, asked me, ``I don't want to go home yet. I want to stay longer.''(I was wrong when I thought that traveling with a child this age is essential.)Not only was the inn clean and renovated while retaining its over 100-year-old charm, but thanks to the cheerful and calm hosts, I was able to relax and enjoy myself very much.I think it is a village that can be enjoyed in any season, so I would definitely like to visit again.thank you very much.
