When I went mountain stream fishing to Sandankyo Gorge, I had a casual chat with the owner, an old man, and then I was given the chance to fish at Alaskan Dream! In the fishing pond, it feels like the game is over if you are given up at the beginning or at the end of the match☹️I also invited myself to the guesthouse for lunch as it was my first time there. It was a great treat🍛I was also given a tour of the guesthouse, and it looks like it would be fun to spend a relaxing time in the nice size and atmosphere! 🐯There were a lot of interesting things, and it was a space that you wouldn't get bored of!Thank you for giving me stag beetles and vegetables when I was in Sandankyo! I will go again 😁🎣

They played music and I was impressed by how good the acoustics were. The barley tea was very delicious and I received vegetables as souvenirs, so it was a wonderful space ✨I'm glad you came. Thank you very much😌🍀

I have been here for one night. The host was very friendly, we had dinner together. The next day before leaving he prepared some fresh food and vegetables and made a bento. He gave it as a gift. It was delicious. He also gave instructions to visit Sandan-Kyo valley and talked about his passion for fishing. The room was very quite and clean.

We just parked the car and met Mr. Daxiong. Although we did not stay at the hotel, Mr. Daxiong still introduced us to the beautiful scenery of Sanduan Gorge very enthusiastically. We liked it very much and felt very enthusiastic. Thank you very much Mr. Daxiong for his enthusiastic explanation and let us take this trip. Leave better memories on your trip!

Big Bear, as he likes to be called, was incredibly hospitable and friendly. Though we only spent the day there, you could tell of Big Beara love for the region. He was a most helpful guide giving incredibly helpful safety advice. He even went out of his way to make us lunch - yum 👍😎

I would rate 1 million stars if there was this option. The first time we met him was when we got off the bus from Hiroshima city, he was very passionate and friendly. He started giving us tips and guides of Sandankyo. In the beginning I was a bit scared as I didn't think people would be so friendly and nice to provide free guide in details. But after chatting with Mr. Big bear, I realized he is just very kind and genuine, his got a big heart and love helping people. Me and my husband didn't bring lunch as we thought we could buy some food there, unfortunately he told us there would be no shops that day. He offered us lunch at his guesthouse. They were very tasty 😋 After lunch he went with us for trekking. That day was actually close to the end of our honeymoon trip in Japan, we had really good chat and he told us his dream is not to make money but is to make great conversation and friends. His guesthouse just started 3 months ago, I wish we could stay there but we had to leave due to the travel plan. Hope one day we can see you again Mr. Big bear 🐻 Keep dreaming and I believe your guesthouse will be fully booked by summer 🌞 Thank you so much for being kind, it is hard to meet people like you nowadays. It's a wonderful memory during our honeymoon trip 💕 Take care of yourself and see you :)

Okuma-san, who introduced himself to us as Big Bear, was extremely kind, friendly, and helpful to us as we went to hike Sandankyo. He gave excellent advice on the area and let us borrow his bear bell to keep us safe given it is cub season. When we returned from the hike, he offered us a map and listened to what kinds of things we liked to do/see and gave us perfect tips for what to do in Hiroshima when we returned there next. He even provided a map and well written English instructions, which was so helpful. We were overwhelmed by his hospitality and kindness and would definitely recommend staying with him if you are in the area!

Mr. Big Bear, the wonderful owner of the hostel, is incredibly kind. My friends and I forgot to eat lunch before our hike, so he invited us to his home and cooked us his Michelin 3 stars tomato soup. His place is so beautiful and cozy, and he even lent me his hiking hat. What a lovely experience! If I ever return to Sandokyo, I will definitely stay at his place and maybe go fishing with the owner 😂

We meant to spend the day hiking Sandan-kyo Gorge, however our trip was cut short due to poor weather conditions. Mr. Shin Okuma very kindly provided us with extra rain gear before our hike, and invited us back to his guest house for coffee and warmth afterwards. He was a generous host and has a lovely, comfortable accommodation in a beautiful neighbourhood. We wish we had time to spend a night there and would recommend doing so!

Thank you to Okuma san for his amazing hospitality today. Despite the fact he was closed, he met us at the bus stop and offered us his jackets, chips and food as well as advice on bears, ticks and others. He even offered us to have a meal and relax time with him at his guest house which we were able to do. It was a fantastic experience spending time with him and recommend anyone give him a visit if you are in the area.
