After a good friend told us about the Vogelsbergdorf in Herbstein, we booked ourselves there for a week with our family in the summer. At first I thought that the price was a bit high for the high season, but that was quickly put into perspective - because you get a lot on offer here.Here is an example of a daily routine during our stay:8:00 a.m.: Breakfast9:00 a.m.: Drop off children at the mini or maxi club10 a.m.: Stomach, legs, butt with Juri12:00 p.m.: Lunch2 p.m.: Adventure trip to the farm6:00 p.m.: Dinner7:00 p.m.: Show evening with JuriIn short: you were never bored here. And if you don't feel like doing something on the program, you just leave it alone - they're all just offers that you can take advantage of.We liked three things best:1. Childcare in the morning: Finally, comfortable parental time.3. The food: Everything was freshly cooked and very varied.Why didn't I give 5 stars everywhere? I actually would have. But it's fair to say that the bungalows are good and well maintained, but nothing special now.The location is very nice - especially the huge playground at the edge of the forest. You just need a car if you want to see more of the area. That's not a big drawback, but it should be said. The advantages outweigh the disadvantages across the board.All of these positive aspects, coupled with the friendly staff on site, resulted in a really nice holiday that was worth every penny. We'd love to come back.

We were there as part of a vacation with the whole family. (Grandparents, children, sisters, brother-in-law, aunt...) The Kolping House was perfect for this. Everyone had their own bungalow. Spacious, clean and with a view over Herbstein and its pastures. Full board with rich and delicious food. There were hardly any wishes left unfulfilled, allergies were taken into account, the kitchen door was always open and the staff were always friendly. The hostel father and his team live the "Kolping sphere" of this house with body and soul, it's contagious. There is a varied weekly program - something for every age (pottery, farm tours, wood workshop, sporting activities,...) The pub quiz was absolute fun for us - it was wonderfully fun. We also offer friendly childcare for young and old. The highlight for us was definitely the barbecue evening together with stick bread over the open fire. This also brought the children and adults together really well. There is so much to explore and experience in the area. The volcano hiking trails and definitely the wonderfully interactive Vulkaneum. Alsfeld, Fulda and Lauterbach are beautiful, historic cities. Schotten has a great bird park with a nice play area for the children. You can spend the day effortlessly. Fun pool in Lauterbach, Gedener See in Gedern offer swimming fun less than half an hour away.We are completely thrilled and recommend a time out in the Kolping holiday village Vogelsberg!!

The rooms are simple but it was enough for us, the children really liked the adjacent playground.We will definitely come back.A very successful holiday for us.
