Very friendly family business and pleasant hotel. Unfortunately I missed a connecting train and got a room there at 10:45 p.m. Breakfast was also very good. I can only recommend it!

I was here in mid-November for a notary appointment in Giessen. Located right next to the train station, the Hotel Adler was my first choice. I wasn't disappointed. The reception at reception was friendly and check-in was easy. The room on the 3rd floor was small but sufficient for one person. The attached bathroom was newly renovated, clean and comfortable. The fact that there was no elevator didn't bother me. The breakfast buffet was rich and tasty, the breakfast room in the entrance was friendly and tastefully furnished. The hotel is family run and very clean. The train traffic was not disruptive in any way. After a short time I started talking to the managing director, a pleasant, courteous person. I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and felt very well looked after there. I. I wish the owners all the best for the future. If I come to Giessen again, I will stay here again.

We were traveling by train and due to a police operation on the route to Wetzlar, nothing worked. We had to stay in Giessen for 2 hours. And that night from 10 p.m. to 12:08 a.m. Of course, luckily for us, everything was closed, no bar was open and we had to use the toilet. The toilet facility at the train station was also closed due to Corona. Our last option was this hotel. And here we weren't allowed to use the toilet because it was only for the staff.I wouldn't have expected so much humanity here. Thank you too! I'm as disappointed as one can be.There's no way I would set foot in here and book a room.Well…the ambience looked terrible anyway. But that didn't matter to us in this emergency.I can't understand the positive reviews here because the older lady at reception didn't seem particularly friendly. You probably only experience friendliness when you leave money there.————————————————Edit to the hotel's response:Come to an emergency! As a man, I can still stand up to relieve myself. But I find it really questionable to deny this to a woman! There would have been a possibility, be it in a room, if only one had wanted to and acted humanely. So my rating is completely justified.Furthermore, you only react rudely because I gave YOUR hotel a bad rating. But you could also understand our point of view, what a great character I have to find an opportunity for my wife instead of sending her into the bushes or between parked cars. I just see here that a human need was not taken seriously and we were simply sent away again. I really hope with all my heart that one day you will find yourself in the same situation and that no bushes would help, but you won't be allowed in anywhere either! And if you complain that your bad character will be judged! You are a hotel and not a private household. So don't tell me there wasn't a possibility. The review could have been really positive but your staff decided otherwise. We can't do anything about that either. And on the topic, it’s irrelevant and condescending. If that were me, I would have found completely different words.I'm very sorry, but your ambience is just getting old and not nice. Other reviews here also confirm this. And it's my taste. So that's not condescending. Unfriendly: Well…that’s just how you were. What else can I say about that? Fact. But many people can't handle criticism and turn it into something positive.————————————————And just as an example, if you would understand customer friendliness:“Dear Mr. P.,We're really sorry that we couldn't help you further in this really unfortunate situation. We can understand your anger. Unfortunately, our staff toilets are not accessible to customers. Furthermore, all of our rooms were occupied, which is why we were unable to grant you access there either. If our lady at reception did not meet you with the appropriate level of friendliness, we sincerely apologize. Of course we will discuss this as a team so that it doesn't happen again. We really hope that you found a suitable location and got home safely. You wouldn't wish an evening like this on anyone. We would be very happy if you gave us a new chance and perhaps one day we could welcome you to our house to your complete satisfaction. We would still be happy if you thought about a better rating.Best regards,Your Hotel ADLER team—————————————That's called professionalism. Think about your part and how to approach the customer. Now read your answer again! So…this hotel? No thanks.

I chose it because it was close to the train station, but the rooms are very narrow, there is no elevator, I felt like going up and down to smoke, I would not choose it again.

Unfriendly staff, enemy of musicians, poorly insulated, very small rooms. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this hotel. I was told that I was a nuisance with my music. Luckily I was only there one night.Place to avoid.

Due to an emergency, we were forced to look for an alternative toilet at the Gießen train station. The train route between Gießen and Wetzlar was completely closed. We had to leave our train and wait at the station for over two hours. The toilet facility at the train station was completed. It was after 10 p.m. and the restaurants were already closed. In desperation, we went to the Hotel Adler, politely explained our plight to reception and hoped for understanding. The lady wasn't happy about our request and explained to us very clearly that we couldn't use the toilets here. There would only be one staff toilet here and it would not be accessible to us. I can't imagine that all the rooms were occupied and that there wasn't a single room or a single bathroom that we could have used. We were polite and were very harshly sent back into the cold. My husband could have put himself somewhere in an emergency, but for me as a woman it was a very hopeless situation. It didn't help at all to make it clear to the lady at reception that we had no other choice. Please help us!Absolutely no understanding, customer friendliness and service are not very important here.I am truly appalled by such behavior. I had never noticed this hotel until this evening. This is a family business and obviously hasn't been renovated for a long time. It's not all that bad, I really don't care about the ambience when I'm in an emergency. I would have really liked to thank you with a warm and friendly review if our concern had been taken seriously. But I definitely cannot in good conscience recommend a hotel with unfriendly staff and no service. Dear Team Adler, you didn't think any further. You forgot, we might visit you one day to book a room with you. The first impression counts, and unfortunately it was very negative. So honestly I would rather stay in a tent before booking a room with you. And thank God there are still plenty of competitors in the city of Giessen who value customer service. My husband also wrote a corresponding review, which was responded to by the team with really unfriendly comments. The Adler team neither acts humanely nor is it able to respond objectively and seriously to criticism. I have traveled all over the world and have seen many hotels in all price ranges. But I've actually never experienced anything so unfriendly.Thank you for sending us away in this emergency. Think about it, by the way, they could have been a little friendlier to us.
