The hotel that time forgot. A place for the weary traveller who rebuffs comfort. Instead those who are tired from their travels can relish in the unplaceable and pungent smell that greets them in the empty reception. Marvel at the lack of curtains that allow bright sunshine to burn out their retinas at sunrise (who wants a lie in on holiday anyway?) and gasp in awe at the decor. Something that could only have been borne from the mind of a lunatic. Green and yellow room anyone? Look no further than room 8 (bring your own curtains).

Don't be put off by the drains smell at the entrance to the hotel. This was the only criticism we had. The staff are friendly and helpful managing to communicate despite my poor German! …

this place is terrible. A) really rude staff (this included a staff member entering my room at 7.45 hounding us down to have breakfast, even though we booked it for 8am. …

If you want a quiet budget hotel, very close to the historic Colditz town and castle, and don't mind abject weirdness, then Gasthaus Walditz (sorry, "Waldhaus") is right up your strasse! …

On arrival which admittedly was a bit late I think about 7.30pm the hotel was in darkness and had to rouse the staff by knocking for a while.  …

Spent two night here and it felt like two weeks, the town of Colditz itself was like a ghost-town and the hotel, just away from the town itself felt more like the Overlook Hotel from the film The Shinning. …

stayed here for 2 nights in a holiday flat, location is fine - it's a calm place, but, a) wifi was not available there (only in the main building), b) owner forgot to switch on warm water, c) breakfast was really poor. Fortunately staff was friendly and helped with all problems.

Staff all go home at 7pm . We were the only two guests and left alone in the hotel . No bar no restaurant . Rooms are student accommodation , clean and functional . You have to book a breakfast time the night before. No staff speak any English so brush up on your German. Cheap as chips and you get what you pay for .

Hotel insisted we check in by midday. At 7pm the bar and the restaurant was closed. We were the only people in an empty hotel. Not even a single member of staff. Without question the crappiest most miserable dreadful awful hotel in this solar system. AVOID
