Last evening, I had the distinct pleasure of dining at the quaint Landrefugium Obermüller, typically reserved for guests staying overnight but graciously opened to us, transient diners, by the hospitable management. What unfolded was a culinary escapade that charmingly surpassed our expectations.The affair began with a creatively reimagined Presssack that was a delightful nod to tradition with a modern twist. Following this, a carrot-ginger soup arrived, striking a perfect balance between the earthy sweetness of carrots and the zesty punch of ginger—a symphony of flavors in a bowl. The main course presented a chicken breast schnitzel so tender, it seemed to melt under the fork, accompanied by fries that scoffed at their frozen cousins with superior crunch and freshness. The salad bar was a fresh mosaic of choices, vibrant and inviting.However, the dessert, while ambitious, fell a tad short, feeling just a bit too dry, despite the sauce’s best efforts to elevate it. In contrast, my wife’s cheese platter was a triumph of dairy—a curated selection of international cheeses that could easily star in their own gourmet show, accompanied by artisanal bread and a sublime fig mustard.The evening’s libation, a sprightly Riesling, chosen by the sommelier, was a crisp complement to our meal, enhancing each bite with its lively notes.A minor inconvenience was our premature departure from the terrace at 10 PM due to hotel policies, shifting the remainder of our evening to a somewhat overheated bar. Yet, this did little to detract from the overall joy of the night.Service throughout was impeccable, with the owners themselves ensuring our experience was nothing short of delightful—an increasingly rare personal touch in today’s culinary scene. The price point, especially given the quality experienced, spoke of a deep appreciation for genuine value—a refreshing anomaly in today’s market.In summary, dining at Landrefugium Obermüller was akin to a serendipitous culinary adventure—one that merits a repeat. And next time, perhaps as overnight guests, to fully indulge in all the comforts and culinary delights that Obermüller promises.

The wellness resort in Untergriesbach is located in a very quiet place. The view from the restaurant and the pools is very nice. The food was excellent and very well organized. The bathroom in the room was very nicely decorated, modern and clean. The various saunas and the drinks bar in the wellness area were also nice.Unfortunately, we weren't told on the first day that you had to go to the bar at 5 p.m. on the day of arrival if you wanted to enjoy the welcome drink. Another point that was a shame was booking the massages. You have to book this directly upon arrival. Unfortunately we were not told this, which is why we were no longer able to book a massage.The e-bikes in the hotel are very modern and always fully charged, so you can go on a nice bike ride if you want. However, the times for this are limited. You can book either all day, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. or from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. It would be nicer if you could book by the hour. Unfortunately there was no suitable helmet for a slightly smaller head.All in all it was a nice experience, but for 4 stars I would have liked a little more information about the service.

The staff is very nice.The food is really delicious.The rooms are also very nice.But a star deduction for this: We went on a wellness holiday for the first time, but as “beginners” we were missing some information.It would have been nice if it had been explained to us upon arrival that the bathrobes etc. for the wellness area were in the room and that you could, for example. B. Massages and treatments have to be booked on the first day of arrival otherwise you won't get an appointment.Although there was very little going on, there were no appointments available during our time as the massages and treatments were apparently only possible in the mornings.Unfortunately, we couldn't book the massage we were looking forward to and could only use the wellness area with the two pools and sauna area.There would probably have been a free welcome drink at a certain time on the first day, but unfortunately we didn't know anything about that either.There is simply not enough communication here.That's a real shame.Please give guests this information upon arrival so that everyone has the chance and opportunity to take advantage of the offers that the resort has to offer.

We, a couple aged 65 + 69, stayed in the large room 214 spontaneously with our 2 motorcycles for 4 days at the beginning of May 2024, the smaller, cheaper rooms were all already booked out at such short notice.It is an official TOURENFAHRER motorcycle hotel.Our assessment is based on around 11,000 motorcycle km per year. We have already gotten to know a lot of accommodations, from very simple to 5*.PLUSKitchen clearly 4*S level, comes close to some 5* hotels.Service was very warm, very friendly (a combination that has become rare!) and attentive, the atmosphere was good, the staff almost all come from the area (which has become rare).The interior design of the main restaurant/breakfast area is very beautifully designed in a winter garden style with a summer terrace in front of it, and there are also additional rooms.Wellness & SPA excellent.Great panoramic views from the south-facing rooms and from the dining area/terrace.Very good breakfast buffet.Wood chip heater for heating and hot water.Owner Wolfgang Obermüller comes to the restaurant every day, nice family business atmosphere.Perfect area - practically no traffic, mountainous landscape, a curve and up/down paradise!!! In just a few minutes you can be in the Austrian Waldviertel and Mühlviertel and in the Czech Republic, and the very beautiful Passau is not far.The location is extremely quiet!MINUSNo air conditioning throughout the house for warm/hot days.There is no sun protection (neither inside nor outside) in the restaurant area, i.e. the sun shines full in your face at all the window tables and it gets very warm - unpleasant.No air conditioning in our room, only sun protection inside, still very unpleasant heating. On the day of arrival it was 24° outside, room temperature over 26°. If there is no air conditioning, then at least there is no sun protection outside.Shower has no faucet, only ON/OFF button. There is a huge amount of water, about 1/3 would have been enough (not nice for this otherwise environmentally friendly hotel).The beds have pillows that are far too thick, but reception was happy to give us smaller ones.MISCELLANEOUSNo fenced parking area, no underground parking. It didn't bother us, but we know that it bothers some other motorcyclists (car drivers?).There are only four open and covered motorcycle parking spaces, one behind the other, but they are very narrow (it says in writing: "all side cases must be removed") and far too short for two boxer GSs in a row.At the time we were there there were only 4 other motorcycles there, i.e. no contact was possible unless you recognized each other by chance.
