Beautiful hotel in a wonderful old half-timbered house. We had a great room, huge, even with a kitchenette, which we didn't need. Breakfast was also good, but: The reception from the lady in or in front of the hotel was unfriendly and unfortunately things didn't get any better when we checked in. Too bad. So we didn't have the feeling of being welcome as hikers (on the Hermannsweg).Another gastro tip for Detmold: Strates Brauhaus, just around the corner. Delicious food and of course a delicious and large selection of our own beers, with a great waiter.

We were very positively surprised because the hotel is located in the middle of Detmoder's old town. We were greeted nicely. Check-in was quick and easy and our room was large, bright and modern and the bathroom had a walk-in shower. The 3.5 hour breakfast time offers maximum flexibility and the selection is great. Together with the unobtrusively friendly service, our stay was a complete success. I would come back at any time.

Rarely seen such a clean room and nice breakfast for the price. If you don't like old buildings, you might want to book something different. The bathrooms were nice modern very clean in 2 rooms. Lots of wood and old half-timbered house. It's loud throughout the hotel when people cook in the kitchen. Gladly again 100% recommendation

An almost perfect evening(if I hadn't had to miss out on a few more delicacies) in the Stadtgefrischer restaurant at the Altstadthotelb. We all had different choices and everyone was full of praise for the food, drinks and the great service. We'd love to come back

A very nice, small hotel with the perfect location for a weekend in Detmold. We were there with a larger group of women and everyone was very enthusiastic and satisfied. I had a single room and it was very clean and modern. The shower was excellent. My room only had a view of another wall of the house, but that was completely fine for me for two nights.The breakfast had a sufficient selection, the rolls and the coffee were very tasty. The service was also attentive and courteous.Thank you very much for the great weekend!

The hotel is very cute, but the rooms are very simple. When the restaurant is cooking, you can hear and smell it too. Conclusion: just too expensive for €65.

Been there a few times (wouldn't book it myself). Price for Detmold cheap. Rooms are very different depending on the building. Mattresses way too soft!! Breakfast was borderline and boring for the price. 3 stars just.

Finding a hotel room under time pressure can be an unpleasant experience. I was lucky that there was still capacity in the Altstadt Hotel and that a reservation could be made at very short notice. Called once and it was done quickly. All of this with the warm, direct manner that is characteristic of the Lipper and that you learn to appreciate.The rooms are of a good standard, but you are in the city as soon as you step out of the hotel door. More in Detmold will be difficult. Since my schedule unfortunately didn't allow time to visit the city this time, I'll probably have to come back and then I'd love to stay at the Altstadt Hotel again.

Clean and orderly! Breakfast good.Tips:1. There is no parking space, have to look for something2. No elevator but 3 floors3. Room 28. The floor panels are heavily curved. Which causes a strange walking feeling. Bug or feature 🤔4. Gsnz ober gets quite warm in summer

Stayed here for one night on a cycling trip. We were greeted very friendly and were even allowed to store our bikes in the courtyard.Very great rooms and a good breakfast, what more could you want.

First of all: Only the hotel is rated here, not the restaurant located in the same building, as it is only open three evenings per week and was not visited.The hotel is in a small half-timbered house, in a central location and is well maintained. The employees are extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms are fine. Why not 5 stars overall?Some things may be small things, but too many of them (related photos were rejected by Google) are annoying overall. A desk lamp without a bulb - oh well. A minibar without a bar - a shame. Two windows with a view of a wall - hmm. No chance of parking the bike remotely protected from the weather - somehow impractical.Conclusion: If none of this bothers you, you've come to the right place. BOOK, you definitely can't go wrong. Maybe I'm just being too petty.

Been there three times and absolutely recommended each time. Restaurant with creatively delicious dishes and a great selection of wines, simply outstanding! You can tell straight away that the boss herself takes care of the well-being of her guests. Many ❤️ thanks to the entire team and always happy... See you next time!
