The hotel from the outside is very nice.The rooms are a bit old, the breakfast buffet was a bit small for 4 people.The room service (cleaning) completely failed in my opinion. Although I had a nice, large room, I had the disadvantage that the morning, midday and evening sun shone in full when the blinds weren't down. The cleaning staff raised the blinds every day and when I got home the heat was almost unbearable. Others with vacationers had other rooms that only had sun in the morning and a cool room later in the evening. The balcony could only be used from evening to night.The location is perfect in nature, every now and then you can hear cows.The restaurant is very expensive, but the food is also very tasty. There are 4 points deduction for the drinks, I ordered a Fanta and received a Fanta that had already been open for a few days. It was neither chilled nor carbonated and the taste was terrible.I give another point deduction for the lack of smoke detectors in the rooms. If there are wooden ceilings, there should be at least 1 smoke detector per room plus 2 in the hallway, instead of just 1. And the escape route sign doesn't help anyone, which if you only see the circuit boards, please fix it for the safety of your guests.Otherwise the staff is very friendly and helpful.I and my holiday group recommend the hotel.

Owner-operated small hotel in the romantic Rhön landscape and yet only a few minutes' drive from the A7 and Fulda. The extremely friendly service, the very good food, the spacious rooms and especially the large garden area with children's play equipment make your stay a pleasure. Particularly worth mentioning are the jam creations conjured up by the senior manager from the in-house garden!My unreserved recommendation for noise-plagued people looking for relaxation! The Rhön is simply beautiful and worth a trip! And the Alte Mühle is the right hostel! And the prices quoted make the stay seem even more pleasant.

We had a wonderful birthday party in the hotel restaurant. The extremely friendly reception of the guests by the boss herself, who greeted us with a spritz, was the start of a successful family celebration. The cuisine here is good, home-style, the meat is of top quality, both the rump steak and the pork schnitzel can only be recommended. The Simon burger, created by the chef and made from butter-tender beef in locally baked brioche buns, is very successful and tastes excellent. In the Alte Mühle you can celebrate something in a spacious restaurant surrounded by hills and meadows.

Went here with the family for a long weekend. Rooms are rustic but very clean. Furniture was newer. The staff and the owner are extremely friendly and accommodating. The nice conversations were great. The food was perfectly prepared. Greetings to the kitchen, at this point. Great performance! Everything was within reasonable price.

Excellent dinner (3-course menu) at a top price with exquisite wine accompaniment, fantastic service despite Covid-19 restrictions, short-term booking no problem at all. Great, idyllic location in the middle of the Rhön. You can't praise the hotel enough and only hope that it will be popular again in the next few months.

The beautiful and cozy Rhönhotel Alte Mühle is idyllically located in the middle of the Rhön near the Wasserkuppe. It's only a few minutes' drive to Fulda.The apartment we rented was clean and large. The bathroom modern and clean.A fly screen in one room meant we could leave the window open overnight in the warm temperatures. This kept annoying mosquitoes away. There were roller blinds on all windows to provide darkness.The landlady was very accommodating and extremely friendly.One star deducted because we expected more from the breakfast. There were boiled eggs which unfortunately were all cooked through. There was no salmon or other fish. Muesli was already pre-mixed (with raisins or chocolate).Whole fruit like apples or bananas would have been nice.Overall, however, recommended.
