Good hotel for 1 or 2 nights, friendly staff. Breakfast was good, not very extensive, but what was there was good. Room (family room) was very neat and had a good bed.

Four stars, nice rooms and large, service unfortunately a bit limitedThe rooms are nicely furnished and large, the premium rooms are located in a somewhat winding area in the annex building of the other main hotels. There are small snacks and drinks that the reception staff have to prepare (e.g. small pizza), unfortunately there was a lot going on in the hotel at the time we were there and the staff were unable to do anything. So it's better to go into town and eat or drink something there. Good restaurant is not far either. Breakfast was good and also a good selection. All in all a good hotel and we can recommend Four Stars.

Solid, nothing significant to complain about or highlight positively, parking costs another five euros per night, staff was friendly, air conditioning would be good in the medium term.

We booked a handicapped accessible room.First the good, everything was doable. Parking spaces at the house cost €5. However, there is no designated disabled parking space. The deluxe room is large enough and nicely furnished. The breakfast buffet is great and has everything you need in the morning. Rolls, bread, butter, cheese, sausage, sweets, fruit, vegetables, egg variations, fully automatic coffee machines, what more could you want. Now to the room:A bathroom that was really huge, but no supports on the toilet. A shower, with a heel and without a shower stool and without a non-slip mat. A mirror that hangs way too high.A handicapped-accessible room should not be equipped like this.A pity

The price-performance ratio was not right for the room at the front and back. The only plus point: It was clean enough and at least some of the furniture was in good condition despite its age. The beds were surprisingly good.In general, the room was as it was in 1980 - the only new furnishings were the television. The old textured wallpaper had been painted (partly poorly) and the carpet had the smell of decades in it. The furniture was all old, the red faux leather armchair, for example, had clear signs of wear. There is no air conditioning, and unfortunately not even any insect screens in front of the window. The small bathroom was also renovated with a minimal budget - unfortunately even worse than the main room. Here click vinyl was glued to the floor and walls (including in the shower). Tile profiles on the edges were not used, so boards that were cut too short had to be smeared with large silicone joints. The water in the shower didn't drain properly. There was no space to sit normally on the freestanding toilet because a single sheet dispenser (!) was simply hanging in the way. There was a toilet paper roll that was ¼ full - from the previous guest? The ceiling in the small entrance hallway looked as if water damage was being covered up - it was reminiscent of a dingy train station hotel from 1960.When a friendly complaint was made at reception, they didn't even ask what the problem was, but were immediately referred to "the organizer", to whom the payment had already been made. Upon request, a toilet roll was reluctantly handed to me.The breakfast room shows that things can be better in this hotel. If you look closely, not everything here has been overly professionally renovated (poorly taped in the hallways and in the room, blobs of paint on skirting boards, etc.), but there is click vinyl on the floor, the walls are painted in a modern way and there is decent furniture. The whole room seems completely different than our room. In my opinion, our room (111) was knowingly rented out in a 1-star condition - precisely because guests who go to Phantasialand will never come back anyway. The night before we had a room in Essen for 62 euros (without breakfast). There was air conditioning, the room was modern, properly renovated and appeared to be of high quality. The room in the 4 Stars by City Hotel was completely overpriced in comparison - half as much would have been reasonable at best.04/21/24: ATTENTION! The hotel hires companies to have unpleasant reviews deleted! So the owner (or one of the employees) pays money to have honest reviewers silenced because the review is unpleasant - exemplary!Today (almost 2 years after the visit!) I received an email from Google stating that, in the opinion of the company involved, my review above violated personal rights and that the person being reviewed "cannot assign" the review. Which is funny because my “evidence photos” have already been deleted. But thanks for that anyway: THAT EVEN UNDERLINES MY RATING ;) Thanks also for the reminder - I'll upload the pictures again that the hotel had already deleted :D

The hotel is neat, we stayed in the king size room. Beautiful spacious room that was very new. The bed was wonderful. The room is located in the guesthouse, the hallway leading to it still smells of cigars, something could be done about this. Smoking is no longer practiced, but it is clear that this was done in the past. As soon as you enter the newer part where this room is located, it smells a lot better. The breakfast was fantastic and the hotel staff are friendly. The breakfast was delicious and very extensive, fresh rolls were prepared and various types of toppings in meats and cheeses were available, including sausages, boiled eggs and scrambled eggs. A wide range of corn flakes and muesli with various nuts and sauces. Delicious fresh fruit. Definitely recommended. You can reach the lobby and breakfast room via a staircase, but there is also an entrance for the disabled, which is wheelchair-friendly.Only the parking costs were not communicated via Expedia. The costs were 5 euros.Furthermore, we found the price-quality ratio to be good. We will definitely come back.
