The hotel has lived and you can see that on every corner as soon as you leave the reception/bar area.We had the Manhattan suite for over €400 for 2 people, 2 nights.Wherever there was no marble there was damage. This ranges from signs of use on the mirror, to scratched furniture and wallpaper that is peeling off in some places, holes in the curtains, damage to heaters and and and...It was the same in the hallways: scratches, damage,... The paint was touched up here and there, which you can see. Black is not just black.I'll upload some pictures. The television was also far too small for the distance to the bed. There was also no wardrobe, just a clothes rail and a base cupboard, a kind of sideboard. The refrigerator available was a Coca-Cola-Merc refrigerator and was therefore loud. The distribution socket simply hung down.At the reception we were told when we left that some of the rooms had already been renovated, but for the price I could definitely expect a room that was at least in good condition. Here again:The staff was friendly and accommodating at all times!

Hotels like the Waldorf Astoria should learn a thing or two about the staff. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. I've rarely had such a warm and friendly welcome, thank you. We'll be back!

Great hotel, very nice room. First class breakfast.Hairdryer and bathrobe were missing. I would have liked some bath utensils by the bathtub.

Doesn't even deserve a star.Bathroom smelled like a sewer.TV, safe and ventilation broken. The night watchman was the only competent employee. But of course nothing could change the problems.

It's a complete disaster! We booked a room and suddenly we were told that the bathtub in our room was broken. We were told this at 2pm the same day. We took it anyway. Arrived at the hotel late in the evening and were told the room had been cancelled? Because we arrived so late and our blankets were given to others??? Never experienced anything like this. The lady at the reception also forgot to keep the phone on silent while she was gossiping about us as guests.

In itself a really nice hotel with nice staff. The hotel room also looks really great. However, the rooms are extremely noisy, the walls on the outside are completely attenuated. When a car or even a truck drives by at night, it really feels like the windows are completely open or you are standing on the street. As great as the rooms in the hotel seem to be, for such a price I actually expect that you can get some rest at night. Unfortunately that is not the case, which is a real shame. That's why I can unfortunately only recommend this hotel to a limited extent.

Unfortunately, even one star is now too many. I was a guest for 2 nights a few years ago and was extremely satisfied. So when we wanted to go back to Cologne, the Black Hotel was my first choice again.Unfortunately, when we arrived on site, things looked different. The four of us booked 2 rooms. We arrived at the hotel at 4:20 p.m. Our friends got their room and found absolute chaos there. Garbage everywhere, leftover food, bed not made - as if the last guest had only left the room 5 seconds before. So they got a new room. There was no rubbish here, but there were unidentifiable stains and strange hairs on the bed linen, dirt in the bathtub and the room smelled musty. We looked at our room. The same picture. Stains and hair in the bed, foul smelling musty - broken tiles with risk of injury in the shower. So we brought the receptionist back into the two rooms and showed her the defects. We were supposed to get a completely new room, but it wasn't clean yet and we had to wait another hour. Our friends should be reworked, but that too would take time. The boss couldn't be reached; after all, it was Friday afternoon. In addition, the hotel is partly used as a refugee home, which we a) didn't know when we booked and b) is generally very questionable. When booking online, nothing was mentioned about the deposit, which was then required on site. After 2 hours we still had no rooms and canceled our booking. It's a shame. Typical case from the outside yuck, inside yuck. Never again..By the way: at the Holiday Inn - Niu Mill (where we ended up) you pay less and get clean rooms and a good breakfast 😉
