Delightful historic hotel set in the central area of the old town. Accessibility to everything is excellent. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is amazing. It doesn’t have a lift but if you don’t mind climbing a few stairs it is well worth it.Would highly recommend this hotel.

Lüneburg, a Hanse town not too well known, unscathed by the war's bombs, incredibly charming little place with a cloister of historical import and a saltmining museum. …

I fell in love with Lüneburg during a summer study abroad and, on my 2nd return trip, knew the location of Das Stadthaus was perfect. Am Sande is the heart of the old town and around a 10 minute walk from the train station. …

Stayed here for one night. It is a very old hotel done over. No elevator and we were booked for the top floor. Not happy with that. The staff was very accomodating in placing us on a lower floor. …

Lovely old house! Rooms are sufficient. Located super central. Moderate price, breakfast sufficient. No direct traffic. Only the busses of public transport just on front killed the 5th star. But survivable.

Booked Hotel for three nights, stayed for one. This place has an incredible charme but is disabled with an management you can't believe. The hotelier really hates his guests and let them know he does. I never met any unpleasant person like him!

Anyone who is considering a short trip to Lüneburg and would like accommodation in the center will find the townhouse to be suitable. It is central and a good starting point for exploration tours. In my view, the townhouse is a work of art in itself and a lively exhibition of images. For older people it is very demanding if you have a room on the upper floors and then have to carry your luggage upstairs yourself. The rooms are functional, bright and individually furnished. The bathroom is sometimes equipped with a shower, sometimes with a bathtub and is colorfully designed. We had a room with an extra bed. That was completely ok for 2 nights. An additional wastebasket in the room would be desirable. There should be a toilet brush in the bathroom that doesn't look its age yet. The rooms are very noisy. The breakfast was completely fine. There was an unusual selection of freshly prepared salads and vegetable and fruit plates. The bread and rolls were homemade. There was also tea, coffee from a large pot and two fruit juices. Candles on many tables create a cozy atmosphere. The staff is very friendly. We made a booking request by email and received a call back with warm advice because we were traveling as 3 generations. We were promised 2 rooms next to each other, but unfortunately that didn't work out. The house was fully booked...and that certainly speaks for the townhouse. We generally felt comfortable.

The hotel is the right place for art lovers. The breakfast is tasty and sufficient with good breads and fresh fruit. Like all historic buildings, the hotel does not have an elevator.
