The hotel is ok. Our room was spacious but the floor quite dusty. If you need a place to sleep it is fine, but don't eat there. The food is awfull.

In terms of transport, the hotel is in a great starting point for exploring the area. Parking spaces are plentiful. The staff makes an effort and is friendly. However, you can see from the reviews you can read here that effort alone is not enough. The dumplings are, as is often complained about, too mushy and the taste and expectations of the dishes don't always meet. A bowl of soup for a good 15 euros is reasonably sporty. However, the breakfast is commendable. Sausage, ham, salmon, eggs etc., very good. A coffee pot at each table might be better.Unfortunately, the interior of the rooms is no longer completely new. The smell. . . enigmatic. Conclusion: For two or three nights it's OK.

A place with a bit of history. Good for an overnight stay while traveling somewhere further. I can't comment on the restaurant because when we were there the cook got sick and the restaurant was closed. Breakfast was standard, but nothing special. The hosts tried to optimally manage the breakfast ingredients, so sometimes you had to wait for a tomato or cucumber. At €13 for breakfast, this is a bit too much of a saving. The surrounding area is rather average, but there is, for example, a small playground for children. There is a very nice beach 20 minutes away, and an outdoor swimming pool even closer. There is secure parking and a garage for bicycles.

Great hotel, with individually designed rooms. We really liked it. Food should also be very good. Unfortunately we didn't have time to try it out. But we'll come back and then take more time for Saalfeld and the surrounding area.

This is just a restaurant review.Me and my girlfriend ate at Bohlenblick in Saalfeld with beautiful views of the small mountains. Unfortunately that was the only nice thing. The food was subpar, as if the chef didn't even try his food himself. The goulash was watery, tasted like it had been thawed, and generally didn't have enough seasoning. The Rostbrätl and fried potatoes were not very seasoned, although you can hardly go wrong with something like that. Unfortunately it didn't taste good at all. It also seemed like we weren't the only ones with this opinion. We also communicated this to the staff personally. Of course everyone is happy to have a chef, but you should be able to expect something for the really expensive food.
