Personable small hotel in a great location where you are greeted by name. It’s the oldest hotel in Ahlbeck. Very charming including creaking floor boards but nicely updated rooms. I booked with just a few days notice and was glad to find a single room. The room faced to the back, no ocean view. If that’s important to you, make sure to ask. It was perfectly quiet, with an open window I could only hear the occasional seagull. A comfortable mattress and the room was small but had everything I needed except for a mini fridge which is rare in German hotels. The bathroom was small (looks the same size for larger double rooms according to the floor plan) but one of the few with plenty of places to hang your towels.A good buffet style breakfast in a bright and sunny room with ocean view is included. Scrambled eggs, bacon, small brats & sausages, fresh rolls, jams, meets, cheese, yoghurt etc are offered.Private Parking is 8 € per day. It could be a challenge to find parking otherwise.Excellent location. Short walk to the beach. There are plenty of stores including a Rossman drug store, Edeka supermarket just steps away.

Bad service and unfriendly staff, not a good experience. Did not wanted to order a full meal but only a small portion fries, but I wasn't allowed to (only for kids or as extra).

Short recession. Ordered wheat. get pilsner. Ordered food. After two minutes on the table. Funny. That's exactly how it tasted. It was worth a try, but it stays that way. I was wondering why there were so many places available.

We saw the food offerings and perceived the home cooking as a nice contrast to the other offerings. I went straight in and wanted to reserve a table for the next day. The waiter, who spoke broken German, made it clear to me that that wasn't possible and that we should just come. The next day we were back and wanted to eat outside. Tables were becoming available and we watched as other guests paid. However, the waiter ignored us, got “Reserved” signs and placed them on the free tables. I thought reservations weren't possible? We continued to be ignored (the waiter was doing other tasks and didn't even look at us). I was very disappointed with this behavior. Finally we left.I never had the feeling that we were welcome here as a young family. We then spent our money in another restaurant.

We were there for dinner as out-of-house guests and were seated in a rather sober, somewhat older hall. The restaurant offers great seats, the hall is rather functionally furnished. The offer menu reads quite well, but the service had its problems as the number of guests increased. He tried hard, that's probably the best way to say it. Although we ordered a normal portion, we received a very manageable, rather small portion and went home hungry. The dessert offering was poor and there was no demand at all as to whether we wanted another drink or something else. Will we go there for dinner again in the next few days? I hardly believe it.

We only ate in the restaurant. This seemed very well maintained and clean. The food came very quickly, hot and very tasty. The drinks were great all round too. The service staff were also very nice. We felt comfortable and were there twice this week. A great selection of food! The interior was very comfortable and it was easy to sit there.

Like last year, we were really disappointed again, we were on the terrace again, customers' requests were not taken into account at all, the food was unfortunately very poor, almost cold and one meal (schnitzel) was still raw...The prices are also too high.At the table next to us, the guests were loudly warned in front of everyone else because their table had slipped 20cm.I have known the Meereswelle for decades and it has always been a very well-kept and tidy restaurant. But unfortunately that's over.We definitely won't be coming back again.

I can't say anything negative. The staff was very friendly and everyone enjoyed the food. We'd love to go there again. Top
