Cool and modern looking chalets with fancy patio doors and electric fireplace. The concept for a nature retreat type of resort around a castle is good but the poor design of the chalets lets it down. The smell coming out of the shower room due to poor drainage was quite unpleasant when we arrived but it got better after using the shower and letting the stagnant water drain out.The best by far would be the multicultural staff at both the restaurant and the castle, who were very friendly, approachable and efficient with a lovely attitude and perfect English.I also liked the birds in the morning. They seemed to like the wooden scaffolding type of structure around the top of the chalets and would gather round the sunniest spots. Going to a nature resort like this it’s lovely to see and hear some wildlife close by.

This was a very mixed experience. The rooms were incredible and the location is in the middle of a large park with small lakes and animals grazing. But the place is SERIOUSLY understaffend and disorganized. We were supposed to check in late and was told that the key would be ready for pickup in the restaurant, but the single(!) waiter who was clearly struggling to keep up with the amount of orders coming in had no idea what we were talking about. We went to the castle and finally found someone who could check us in. It then turned out that the room hadn't been cleaned, so we agreed that we would go and eat at the restaurant while she would clean the room.Back at the restaurant, we got seated and provided with menus after a long wait, only to be told that the kitchen had to close and they couldn't take our orders. Also, the pool was closed, even though it was advertised on the website. We liked the place and the staff was constantly struggling to keep up, but the overall impression wasn't great.

We arrived in autumn, the leaves where golden on the trees, the air crisp, and we got the sweetest welcoming from the hostess, Julia, who also makes a great breakfast!! Waking up in the castle was like time traveling!! I can very much recommend a stay here!!

A very nice place for a weekend trip. We had a weekend with an included gourmet dinner. The hotel and dinner were splendid. The hotel/ Schloss is placed in a nice rural area. …

Schloss Wendorf was a stop on an oldtimer tour I did with a group of ten people a week ago. We stayed there for a night and got the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful nature surrounding the location. The rooms, breakfast and wellness areas were great. But the one outstanding thing was the service in the restaurant. Be sure to give that a visit. Would and have recommended this location.

We stayed at Schlosshotel Wendorf for 5 days and had a marvelous time — both enjoying the nature and cities around Wendorf, but very much also our stay at the hotel. It had a fantastic and historical atmosphere, the service was quite extraordinary, the food excellent (even taking gluten, lactose etc. allergies into consideration), the room cozy and elegant and the room service perfect. We can definitely recommend Schlosshotel Wendorf!

Clean and well-kept hotel with a friendly and helpful staff.Breakfast served at the hotel is overall pretty good and although repetitive large enough to feel fresh for a few days.Do be aware that fried or scrambled eggs with bacon is available but servers tend to forget to ask.The Mecklenburg suite has a 140 cm bed, which is surprisingly small for a suite. Wooden floor in the bathroom a very odd choice.---As for the hotel restaurant "Cheval Blanc" touted as gourmet...We can not agree. Worst/most boring meal of our 4 day trip.We would probably rate it 3 out of 5 - only because the dessert was actually quite good.

Our stay here was relaxing, the grounds are lovely, the rooms well set and the cuisine was excellent. Golfing is not far away, and for horse lovers this is the place to be. …

Hidden gem for sure. The hotel has the character, and the staffs were absolutely friendly and helpful. However, do note that there is no elevator, so might not be the best place for the people with reduced mobility.
