Cocktail evenings on Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Very nice, courteous service, great drinks, e.g. B. Cocktails with and without alcohol, freshly made, very tasty, crispy baguettes, good prices and a great ambience. When the weather is nice, you can sit on the terrace right by the lake.It's nice that things are starting again here.

We were in the cafe and ordered a salad with goat cheese and pear and baked feta. Since there were no more pears, I was asked if I would also have the salad with apples, which was fine with me. Unfortunately the apples were brown and mealy. Goat cream cheese was also carelessly placed on the salad. In terms of taste it wasn't recommended. In addition, the bread that was served with the sheep's cheese and salad was dry.The cake looked delicious, but we didn't try it.We can't say anything about the hotel, but the location at the moated castle is very nice.

We stayed in this house for three nights because we wanted to go on several bike tours in the Bocholt area. When we arrived we were greeted very friendly and familiarized with the spatial conditions. The bikes were well stored (locked garage) and we had a delicious meal on the day we arrived and also on the last day. The location of the castle and the outbuildings where the hotel and café are located is fantastic! There is a very good bus connection to Bocholt; It's only about 20 minutes on foot to Barlo. The only disadvantage of the house: the restaurant closes at 6:00 p.m. and there is no possibility to stay in the hotel outside of the room. And our room (number two) was only partially suitable for a stay: we missed a table with two chairs so that we could spend the evening playing cards. However, this little “downer” doesn’t change the fact that we enjoyed our stay.

Be careful when booking here. We had 2 bookings with 3 rooms for the weekend and received a standardized email at 5:30 p.m. the evening before that the hotel was overbooked. An alternative hotel in the neighboring town that was offered had company holidays!!!. Thanks to our own initiative and help from a local acquaintance, we found accommodation, actually, among other things. 1 room in the castle next door.Overbooking 3 rooms and an impersonal message the night before...there is nothing to add and says everything about the way this hotel does business.

I write for our entire family. We had booked 4 double rooms.We spent a wonderful weekend there for a wedding.It was wonderful. Beautiful surroundings, clean, tidy rooms, great service, very tasty, extensive breakfast buffet.We'd love to come back.
