We celebrated our free wedding at Villa Bowdy in August this year and unfortunately we cannot recommend it as a wedding location at all. We would be happy to explain why:The first viewing of the location was good. We were shown everything including the outdoor area, which was not that appealing at that time (winter) due to the season, but we were told that some renovation work would be carried out until spring, unfortunately these never took place, so the outdoor area is still the same Therefore, as with the first viewing, there was a risk of accidents due to a rotten staircase. After the viewing, many details were discussed and the contract was concluded. Unfortunately, there was poor communication between the villa staff and the owner, which led to misunderstandings regarding payment, hotel rooms and deadlines, which meant that we had concerns as to whether our wedding would be as chaotic. We were told not to worry, after all, they do this regularly.2 weeks before the wedding there was a final meeting in the villa where all the details were discussed and recorded. The day before the wedding we were allowed to decorate the hall. Everything was set up and set up according to our seating plan. Unfortunately, we noticed that some tablecloths were crooked/wrinkled on the tables, dirty cutlery/glasses were set, and covers were dirty/holey. We were very shocked by these conditions, but at least the dirty dishes were replaced upon our notice. On the day of the wedding, the outdoor area was set up very late, so the appointment with the florist for decoration could not be kept and luckily the groom was there early so he could help/manage. Unfortunately, the day didn't go as hoped, the service was poor, there were no cold drinks, some of them tasted stale, there was hardly any service, you had the impression that you wanted to serve as little as possible due to the flat rate for drinks. When the wedding cake was delivered, it was supposed to be placed in a moldy refrigerator, and there was also moldy canned milk with the coffee. When the buffet opened, the bride and groom first had to open all the containers so that they could get access to the food. To make matters worse, there was no beer left at 12:00 a.m., so we had to get some ourselves by taxi from the gas station at night. In our opinion, something like this shouldn't happen with a drinks flat rate in a supposedly renowned wedding location. When we were presented with breakfast the next day with unfortunately burnt rolls, everything from the previous day had to be clarified. The gentleman who was in charge of us the whole time only came in briefly and then drove away again. After he came back at some point because we were supposedly clearing out the entire drinks refrigerator, he first accused us of stealing an empty beer keg and he didn't understand our criticisms regarding all of the points mentioned, or rather tried to blame us for it to walk the walk, so of course there was no accommodation/compensation from the villa, which explained to us why we had to pay the entire amount in advance. He said he saw on the camera that all the guests were happy and it was an all-round great wedding for us. In principle he is right that we had a great atmosphere and a great day overall, but that was due to our great guests and the other service providers who did their job brilliantly, which cannot be said about the villa. Many of our guests gave us exactly this feedback afterwards and the anger over all these grievances unfortunately hangs like a black cloud over what is actually the most beautiful day of our lives. So if you are looking for a location with an all-round carefree package, don't choose Villa Bowdy.
