The Trafohaus in Solingen-Gräfrath is the ideal accommodation for a short vacation or a weekend. The building was, as the name suggests, a transformer station and was turned into a very special place with a lot of love and heart. Located above the historic market square in Gräfrath, the accommodation offers everything your heart desires. Fireplace, hundreds of books, internet, audio, kitchen… and a comfortable double bed. Unfortunately, the house is not structurally suitable for visitors with disabilities, but that is really the only drawback. The staff was friendly and accommodating. All in all: highly recommended. Thanks.

Hotel Trafohaus, a gorgeous gem in Solingen - Gräfrath.A hotel for people who are looking for individuality and peace without boredom.Just one thing to switch off.The other / one room hotel, without a restaurant kitchen and yet so honest.A hidden eye-catcher with an adjacent, integrated, century-old monastery wall. (in the bathroom)About the hotel itself: the reception took place (100m further) with a waitress in the coffee house, rather very rudely. (Here is an envelope for you, please fill out the contents! After I asked where the included parking space was, the waitress said: I have no idea!GsD, another waitress knew more and pointed out to me that the parking lot opposite the transformer house was in front of the garbage cans!)And after 15 more minutes I got the key to the transformer house.Daily change of towels is included, but it has to be said that the transformer house has a certain basement humidity. Bedding and towels are always clammy!The electrics in the house don't work properly either, so you have to feel your way up from below in the dark in the evening, and a defective fire alarm sometimes wakes you up in the middle of the first night at 4 a.m. (no candles or fireplace were there, outside temperature 30 °) of course the fire alarm was at the top of the tower, so when you search for the same screaming alarm in the dark you hit your head on the top landing because the light doesn't work.Conclusion: it's nice for a day or a weekend, but the transformer house is less suitable for 5 days like mine.By the way, you won't find any recommendable restaurants with "Solingen" cuisine in Gräfrath.Best regards,Oliver M.

The hotel is actually a house of about 35 m2. is a gem in the historic center of Gräfrath. Once you enter the house you immerse yourself in a very rustic cottage with 2 bookcases in the living room/kitchen equipped with gas hob, fridge, coffee pods and oven. On the upper floor there is a double bed with its wardrobe and then another floor where it is possible to climb the tower of this little gem. The bathroom is also very rustic and has a particular double sink, classic and wall-mounted toilet and a floor-mounted shower. I didn't give the rooms a fifth star because of the smell of burnt wood in the house because there is also a fireplace. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Booked months in advance - canceled a week before arrival, supposedly due to double occupancy due to calendar error.Birthday present ruined.I was offered a discount for another night's stay. In this case, with booking so far in advance, I would have expected that alternative accommodation would be taken care of. So I just find that cheeky.

Booked an overnight stay a month before. Now 4 days before the appointment, my overnight stay was canceled due to a “synchronization error”!Everything had been prepared for a long time, the overnight stay was part of a scavenger hunt, as a gift for the 60th.It's so disappointing! I was promised a €15 discount if I booked another weekend, but not until January 14th at the earliest... No thanks! The birthday is now! I can't recommend it at this point, quite the opposite!

A hostel that is original, offers a home (I was there during October/storm) and allows for so much individual travel planning, as there is also a small kitchen with a refrigerator. Simply great! I will definitely come back. It feels like a friend gave me his apartment.You should definitely bring slippers, not socks, as the small hallway to the toilet is great, but uncomfortable barefoot.I'll visit it sometime in the summer, the small terrace looked so inviting, but unfortunately not during storms😉
