I was a guest at the Hotel Bacchus for a week while attending a seminar. The room was very nice and absolutely clean and well-kept. There was also a refrigerator with a free bottle of water on the day of arrival. Unfortunately there is no safe in the room, which I find a shame, especially when staying for a longer period of time. The lobby of the hotel is very inviting and comfortably furnished and invites you to linger. The staff was also super friendly and I felt very welcome. There was also the option to store suitcases on the day of arrival and departure. Unfortunately there was no restaurant operating during my stay. Only 3 different pizzas were offered. However, there are a good range of restaurants in the immediate vicinity where you can eat very well.I only used the breakfast buffet on one day. Unfortunately, on this day the buffet was only available in a scaled-down format in a very small space and unfortunately I didn't have enough time to really enjoy it. On the other days it was again set up large on a long counter. But I decided to take a coffee to go with me and just grab a little something from the bakery because I didn't want to sit in my seminar with a full stomach.Which now brings me to my point of criticism. The coffee to go. There is a fully automatic coffee machine in the lobby and coffee to go cups next to it. In my opinion, a small sign with the inscription “My first coffee” stands invitingly next to it. My question as to whether I could help myself there was answered with a nice “Of course”. But I should please help myself to the coffee machine at the buffet, which was perfectly fine for me. Now to my criticism: There was no notice or price tag for the coffee anywhere and I wasn't told that I had to pay extra for the coffee. I was convinced that this was (in my opinion) a very nice gesture and an inclusive service from the hotel. It was only at checkout that I was asked how much coffee I had drunk. Then I was charged €4.80 per coffee, which irritated me a bit and, to be honest, annoyed me. At the latest after I asked whether I could serve myself there, they should have pointed this out to me. It would be even easier to simply and transparently write a price on the sign. This way the guest knows and you can avoid such hassle and misunderstandings. Finally, I would like to say that I had a very pleasant week at the Hotel Bacchus and will most likely be happy to stay there again if, for whatever reason, I decide to go to the beautiful town of Bensheim again.
