If you like GDR charm and cheap baked rolls, you've come to the right place. The operating couple was only moderately friendly. Prices at €70 for the double room are not appropriate for the quality. Location is good if you are visiting Umpferstedt.

I have visited many hotels and guesthouses in my life, both professionally and privately. For a weekend in October we were at a conference for volunteers and just wanted a quiet guesthouse where we could spend the night. When I made the reservation, I asked if there was a kettle for our hot water bottles (we are two easily shivering women). Mrs. Wimmer said they don't have one, but you don't need a hot water bottle either, it's "nice and warm" with them. Luckily we packed our own stove and hot water bottles, I also packed my own bed linen and unfortunately only a summer nightgown because I thought it would be nice and warm. We had 2 single rooms, one was a little larger with 2 beds, mine was very small. Both rooms were furnished, but quiet and clean. However, when we arrived around 4:30 p.m. it was already noticeably cold (the radiator was at 0, my room in particular was quite cold because it was on the corner of the building at the entrance and was equipped with tiles. I turned the heating on. We came back around 9:30 p.m., the temperature Until then, it was just 18 degrees in my room and bathroom. I had a hot water bottle and went to bed. I soon woke up in the night with a cold nose and noticed that the room had cooled down. I was extremely cold and made myself a hot water bottle. "Pension" Wimmer has a night switch-off, the temperature at 7:30 a.m. was 16.9 degrees and it only started to warm up in my bathroom ... I was finally able to get out of bed at around 8:15 a.m. It was extremely uncomfortable. I asked Mrs. Wimmer about it in the morning and she wanted to tell her husband if something was wrong because the heating was supposed to start up at 6:00 a.m When I asked her to leave it on at night, she refused because heating had become so expensive. Note: the price on the website was: from 25 euros. When I called she said 35 euros/night. And that applied to both rooms, i.e. my girlfriend also paid the same as me, but had a lot more space and it wasn't as cold in her room. I didn't say anything about the massive price increase because I thought, well, it's become more expensive everywhere and if it's nice and warm, it's worth it to me for such a simple room, with a very simple breakfast, light baked rolls, cheese and sausage, jam in plastic pots, 1 egg, coffee/tea. Not a piece of fruit or vegetable like cucumber as decoration, not even honey or anything else. Breakfast is taken in a small room, but it was warm and cozy and had a fridge! The next night it was the same, although I had the impression that the radiator came on a few minutes earlier. Because it had already warmed up a bit, the temperature in the room and bathroom was now at 20 degrees, after all... I asked the hostel lady if I could stay on for one night, because the room was now slowly getting warmer (I had already expressed the request for an extension the day before). But now they said they had received a call and both single rooms would be rented out again on the same day. So I had to pack my things quickly. But now comes the kicker: When I wanted to hand over the key, I was attacked very badly by the hostel father, Mr. Wimmer, when I told Mrs. Wimmer that I didn't think it was okay to tell me on the phone that it was nice and warm with them and then something like that... She cheekily, stiffly and firmly claimed that she had never said that, that it was "nice and warm with them". Now the hostel father also attacked me verbally and said that I had a blast, that I wasn't completely tight, and what kind of person I was (I'm a serious lady aged 55). "And should I rent out the room to someone like that for longer?" he shouted at me. So, caution is advised here, but in midsummer it will be "pleasantly cool"! Furthermore, Ms. Wimmer collects the rent in advance...
