Qube Hotel Bahnstadt

Modern hotel from which you can easily get to the center of Heidelberg by public transport. The only annoyance was that you can check in digitally (with a PIN for the room), but the light in the room didn't work without a card and there was no one at the reception.

The hotel has a very friendly staff and is clean and modern.For those who couldn't get hold of one of the rare parking spaces in the surrounding area, there is an underground car park for €18 per day.What is somewhat surprising is the design of the extensive and relatively high-priced wine list:Wines from California, South Africa, Chile etc. are not offered due to “green” ideology as they are harmful to the environment.But the beds are a real no-go: just 80cm wide and with a “hard as a board” mattress.I can't remember the last time we slept so badly...The cushions were also covered in a smelly plastic cover that had obviously been changed infrequently, over which the actual bedding was placed.And unlike other hotels, daily room service must be actively requested, otherwise it will not be provided.One wonders whether there are some who want to engage in militant political re-education or whether they want to entertain guests in comfort.

The hotel is located in the young district of Bahnstadt, near a busy tram stop and therefore perfectly connected to the center. There is an underground car park, but we always found a parking space around the house.Our room was beautifully located on the third floor: great view of the Bahnstadt. Everything was clean. The bathroom was modern and spacious. Our experience at reception was different: young man at check-in was very helpful and charming, lady at check-out was the exact opposite: pay and goodbye. Price/performance is actually not justified but in Heidelberg you have to put that on the table. Two things we will pay attention to next time: No room near the family rooms (children kicking and screaming for hours) and no breakfast in the hotel (see below).

New, modern hotel with a beautiful, functional, modern room/bathroom.Newly built district with a tram station in front of the door, bars and shopping are all available in the area.Rooms on the tram side are a bit noisy.Excellent cuisine, both in the evening and the breakfast buffet.

Clean and complete rooms, everything has been thought of. Quiet atmosphere and the rooms are not noisy. Very good breakfast and the hotel is conveniently located near public transport, so you can easily reach the Altstad from the new part of the city. There are several playgrounds around the corner. We stayed at this hotel as a stopover on the way home.

Disappointing Experience, Rude Staff, and Poor Service - Not Worth 4 Stars.I stayed at Qube Hotel Bahnstadt and was very disappointed with the experience. The staff were consistently unfriendly, never smiled, and made me feel like I was bothering them for asking simple questions. Instead of offering help, they responded with an attitude that made me feel like I was in the wrong.A particular issue was the air conditioning in my room. Despite being set to 19°C, the room felt unbearably hot, like it was over 30°C, and I woke up covered in sweat. When I asked for assistance at reception, the staff didn’t bother checking my room at first; they simply insisted that I was using it incorrectly. After a frustrating back-and-forth, someone finally came to check and confirmed that the AC was on, but then dismissed my concerns by saying, “Why are you sweating? It’s working.” They even tried to tell me I shouldn’t feel hot because despite it being 32C outside the day before it had just rained. Not sure how that helped the situation since the issue was the AC and the window was not open…There was no apology or attempt to resolve the issue—just a shrug and attitude like I’ve wasted their time with my stupid foreigner questions.I’ve had better service at 2-star hotels. The attitude here is unacceptable, and it’s definitely not what you would expect from a supposedly 4-star establishment.To be fair, maybe this is what German hospitality is like—this was my first time in Heidelberg and Germany—but I can’t say I would recommend it based on the service, constant attitude, and the resting “unpleasant” faces my entire family encountered throughout our stay. So far the staff and locals have done a great job at making us feel unwelcome. I really would hope this is not how they treat all guests, and I especially hope this is not due to some form of prejudice against Asians (we are half-Asian, half-European). I don’t want to generalise based off one experience, but unfortunately for now, if you value basic hospitality, look elsewhere.Even if this service standard is cultural, as a hospitality investor, my first recommendation would be a complete retraining of staff to dealing with guests from all over the world. The asset and location are great but the management and staff require training.
