All in all a great youth hostel. The food is good and plentiful. Actually something for everyone. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The room for three was a little small but the bathroom was okay.

The rooms are beautiful and the mattresses make you forget all the pain. Each room has its own bathroom with a toilet, sink and shower! As every year, the service in the hostel was super friendly and helpful. The location of the hostel is also very welcoming for young and old and offers several opportunities for exercise!

The youth hostel was very noisy, so you sometimes couldn't hear your own words during conversations. Upon arrival the rooms were full of live and dead spiders/insects as well as cobwebs and dust. The stairwells were also very dirty, not even a wet mopping was done the entire week. Our group room was very small and loveless. Local transport is limited or not usable at all with groups. It's a shame, we had hoped for more.

Very nice spot. Adventure educational programs, pedal boats, surfing, hiking. Lots of options for excursions. The food is simple and unhealthy. I think you could pay more attention to healthy eating. The staff was mostly friendly. The facilities are simple, like in any other youth hostel. But completely sufficient.

Regardless of how nice the time was, the staff was very nice and helpful. Maybe a bit overwhelmed due to the lack of staff, but that's the case everywhere. The showers were a bit dirty, but that could have just been a coincidence because we found a clean shower in the family room. So everything was fine. Food was great too. Every day also salad and fruit and dessert.

The location of the youth hostel is quite good and, among other things, free parking spaces are available. Our family room was quite large and very clean. The food, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner, was varied and really tasty. The staff were thoroughly friendly and fulfilled all of our wishes, including those of our children. We would recommend the hostel.There is only one minus: there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom.Otherwise completely satisfied.

It was really impressive. Our first time in a youth hostel after 25 years. Staff super friendly, food was great, cleanliness was great. Games were available to borrow on site. Own lake access, enough parking spaces, all in all a great family vacation. Any time! The only small drawback were the thin mattresses. But these were very easy to clean. We are thrilled, the next tour is being planned.

We as a family (2EW + K 3 and 5) are super satisfied.What should be highlighted is the really friendly and courteous staff.The rooms are well maintained and the common areas are cleaned daily.The food was very varied and diverse. A big offer.We are very grateful for the lovely week in the youth hostel and would love to come back ❤️

We were guests with four adults and four children.Positive was:- Large outdoor area behind the building- Fire pit- Direct connection to the Möhnesee- Very clean- Food / Breakfast- Board games in good and complete condition- Beach volleyball court- it was very pleasant despite the very warm days- Air hockey table/football table- WiFiNegative was:- Alcohol is omnipresent, especially in the entrance area of the youth hostel. The very well-equipped and brightly lit beer fridge is positioned directly between the snack machines, which children love to visit and browse. There are also many different wines on display around the reception. In addition, advertisements promoting alcohol are constantly playing on the television in the entrance area.The large umbrellas in the entrance area in front of the building are also from a well-known beer brewer. I do not consider this environment to be suitable for children.- Consuming alcohol in the children's playroom is not prohibited. Alcohol was drunk several times in the presence of the youngest children. Unfortunately, some people don't take it for granted.- carelessly designed table football room (was under renovation)We were happy to be guests, but alcohol shouldn't be the focus here. It is a youth hostel.

We, parents + 13 year old daughter, are thrilled. Attentive, nice reception, loving kitchen staff, super delicious food. Great environment. The only drawback is that you can't express any room requests. But well, unfortunately it doesn't work in many hotels either. Kind regards from the Doll family

I am now 72 years old and was last at Altena Castle as a scout 60 years ago. No comparison at all anymore. All meal times were set up as a buffet, like in the hotel. Rich selection of food and drinks, but especially a lot of fruit. Our family with 2 children really enjoyed the long weekend. The youth hostel is in the immediate vicinity of Lake Möhne and invites you to take part in many activities. Gladly again.
