A wonderful stay at Haus GimkenWe had the pleasure of spending a really lovely evening at Haus Gimken. We had a great time with Ivo and Steffi and had a great time. The ambience in the hotel was cozy and the atmosphere was simply inviting.Particularly noteworthy is the dedicated restaurant and hotel staff - always friendly and helpful. We stayed at Haus Gimken for a wedding and the service was excellent from start to finish. We found it particularly pleasant that we were offered the option to postpone checkout by an hour, which made our morning much more relaxed.Although we originally couldn't book four nights in a row through Booking, we decided to extend our stay by another night - we just loved it there so much!We give Haus Gimken an absolute recommendation and would be happy to come back. A very good choice if you are looking for friendly, clean, simple and cheap accommodation on the outskirts of Essen. The continental breakfast buffet with egg/bacon and hot drink in self-service. Parking available in the courtyard and along the street. To the trade fair by bus to Borbeck, train to Essen Hbf and then subway to the trade fair.

We only ate in the restaurant. There were 4 of us there and, in addition to 4 main courses, we also had a starter and a dessert. Everything was extremely tasty and high quality. The waitress was very attentive and incredibly nice.

I loved staying here for a few nights! The neighbourhood is beautiful and the hotel has a charming garden area surrounding it. 🌼Would've loved to spend more time there!Our room had everything necessary in it and I found it quite lovely even though some might describe the decoration old fashion. We didn't eat anything at the hotel so I have no comments on the food, but there was a mini fridge in the room.🧃The staff didn't understand English well but they were SO friendly and lovely that it didn't matter! ☺️There is a bus stop right next to the hotel which was great for us as we were moving around with public transport instead of a car.🚎

Room and breakfast ok, friendly service. Communication could be better, no response to emails. From my own experience, I advise against booking via the hotel's homepage. The booking there takes place automatically via a portal, eviivo. It's better to call the hotel directly or book via another portal. I left earlier for personal reasons, of course I will pay for the overnight stay if I cancel at short notice. However, Eviivo also charges for breakfast not consumed.

TOP ambience all around, TOP food, TOP quality, TOP value for money...❗️❗️❗️Due to the current Corona circumstances, I spent my birthday here in a small group with a very delicious meal of 1 A quality❗️👌After the change of ownership and various renovations, the traditional location Gimken now shines in a completely new light❗️👍👌[To which, by the way, I was also able to contribute a small part with newly designed window decorations... https://www.creativewohngestalt.de/ ;-) ]I can only warmly recommend Haus Gimken, both the restaurant and the hotel with the great, newly designed rooms❗️All around nice ambience & a mega delicious and unusually prepared food of very good quality...❗️❗️❗️Here, as the saying goes, the eye really eats with it❗️ :-)By the way, a special dessert highlight is a special, delicious and nicely presented chocolate ball with a special surprise effect❗️👌So I'm clearly and very happy to give this 5 stars and say: keep it up,TOI TOI TOI❗️❗️❗️SincerelySilke OelkeI would like to add my visit yesterday to this review.
