The hut is neat: great location, cozy rooms – really a dream for every mountain lover! The innkeeper does give out drinks... but only if you drink quickly! Because in the evening they close on time. There's a lot of concern that things could get boozy, and as a guest you often hear that from the staff's conversations. So if you appreciate an early end to work and like to down the last sip in the semi-darkness, you'll be well catered for here!The cell phone reception at the hut is very poor. There is WiFi, but the innkeeper guards the access better than a one-armed prison brother guards his last pack of cigarettes

Good location consistently exploited. Price performance V. is not good. The staff stuffed us into a room even though there was another room available next door.

Very nice mountain hut. Spent a night there with my class. The location is of course great, especially very close to the summit of the Hochgrat. Rooms and the whole house were super clean, tidy and cozy. The only points of criticism for me were the duvets, which were a bit smelly, and my bed, which wasn't exactly the softest, but I think that's what mountain huts have. It wasn't too bad either. I would come back any time

Good location and DAV hut. Unfortunately, there was no DAV food and drink listed on the menu. The menu is very vegetarian. Unfortunately, the lentils in the lentil stew were still very chewy. The Kaiserschmarrn was tasty, but the portion was too small for the price. There is still room for improvement here.

Service was very friendly. We just had a drink. The homemade syrup is great. Especially the one with the alpine meadow herbs mown with a scythe.

Very tasty Kaiserschmarrn!!!! Much better than the tourist “hut” at the top of the mountain station, it’s really worth walking here, the staff are very nice :-)

We took a break at the Staufner Haus on our hike. There were many vegetarian options. Gluten-free wasn't a problem either and they knew their way around. If you stay overnight, there is probably also the option of getting gluten-free pasta separately. Maybe we'll use this one day ☺️

The Staufner Haus was top a few years ago (I think Jiri was the boss) with legendary food and employees who read the comments in the reservation. But since 2024 everything has been vegan - even communication. …

First mountain hut I've been to that offers oat milk! Very vegan/vegetarian friendly and great selection on the menu. I will gladly come again :)

A very nice alternative to the commercial service at the top of the mountain railway. If possible, everyone on the mountain should support the DAV and its huts if possible.
