Place seemed under construction. A good location for walking to bars and restaurants but could have had a better room experience. Overall we weren’t looking for a 5 star hotel, just somewhere to sleep so it did the trick.

And when they finally did it they gave me back €100 less. Some real scammersThe room is tiny, there is no space, the bathroom is separated by glass so privacy is non-existentDon't go!! Rooms are good and relatively clean. Unfortunately, the windows on the 4th floor cannot be opened, so the air conditioning has to run all night.Service is nice and uncomplicated.Location in a somewhat quieter location.It's best to have breakfast next door at the bakery, it's great.

Room was nice, front desk guy in afternoon is wonderful, so nice and helpful. Unfortunately after night 1 my partner and i woke up with 4 bites on our legs and asked to move rooms and we then we spent 2 hours to wash all of our clothes that day as we just felt itchy. We moved rooms and as we were packing this morning in the new room, we saw a silverfish looking bug in the bed. Just got home and unpacked our stuff, my partner found one in his luggage. Hello, we stayed at the hotel on August 28 and my daughter had $100 stolen from her purse (they are not responsible for the losses) but I do not recommend the hotel because you go on vacation to relax and do not have to worry about being robbed at the hotel. hotel

The Melrose Hotel is conveniently situated close to a tram stop with many shops and restaurants within a short walking distance. The hotel itself and rooms look modern which gives an optimistic first impression. This is where the good points stop.We were located in the basement but after talking to other guests and looking at reviews, many share our experience. TL;DR Room was and smelt extremely damp, AC stopped working and we weren't allowed to change room, TV remote smelt strongly of urine!On first entering the room you are greeted with that familiar stuffy humidity you only get in bathrooms shortly after a shower. This may have something to do with the shower (and toilet) being in your bedroom! The only thing separating the two areas is an (unsealed) glass enclosure with a slight mist effect. Perfect for couples looking for a romantic get away where they can watch each other defecate.Because of this ingenious set up, the room becomes very humid and damp any time you wash. This may not be such a problem if the AC continued to operate once you leave your room, but as soon as you take your room key all lights switch off and the AC shuts down! The quality of the AC is questionable so you can look forward to freezing moist nights or a damp, humid room, either way it will stink.The room has a TV that would have been welcome if it worked. After trying for a few minutes, we figured it was the remote at fault and went to check the batteries. That's when we got a nose full of month old urine. The TV remote smelt strongly off urine... Actual dried and aged urine.Staff were reluctant to help, some more than others. No attention was given to the pissy remote by staff and when our AC stopped working they assured us that they had someone on the way to fix it and it would be running again in an hour. It was not, and we spent our night in a horrible stuffy, smelly room despite asking for a room change multiple times. This hotel is very reluctant to let you change rooms. They will say they are full, but then contradict themsevles.I rate the hotel - Gfor 'Give me my money back.'

I travelled with my wife and two children aged 8 and 6. It was a clean hotel. We had booked for a room we thought would have a kingside bed. However, when we arrived we were told I have to pay extra. We weren’t ready for this and had to pay.We stayed here for 4 nights. The rooms are clean, but tight. The hotel is children unfriendly. It was a walking distance from everywhere. Most of the staff were friendly, except one Indian or Pakistani guy at the front desk.Being a Blackman from Africa, I kind of felt discriminated against compared to how Europeans were treated though.It was a nice stay. I would like to visit again, hopefully the experience would be better. I do recommend.

First off I was told I could late check out for a flat fee when I checked in. When i decided to do so they told me it was by the hour.Second. My GF lost her wallet there and they were super quick to say they didnt have anything, meanwhile there is a computer monitor with all their cameras at the front desk and not one ounce of suggesting to look on there. We were only their one night.Room was tiny. Location good. Wouldn’t book it again though.

After being refused to stay at the hostel we booked we were saved last minutiae by Melrose Hotel.In a lovley area 20 min walk from centre. Great staff and nice facilities, our room was in the basement so the lack of a window wasn’t the best. However great value for money.

The hotel is well located at the 9 streets. The staff is friendly. However, the rooms have certain defects such as peeling wallpaper or floors. Some lamps are also not permanently installed and the light switches are sometimes difficult to find.
