The positive experiences first. The location is great, right next to the Milchbar and Marienhöhe with a view of the sea. Of course it depends on the choice of room. The breakfast buffet is also great, great selection, we didn't miss anything. The wellness area was clean and met a medium standard. The room service is TOP, big compliments to the housekeeping!Unfortunately, the room furnishings do not correspond to the estimated price. The rooms are getting old and you're clearly paying for the great view and the location, the amenities don't do justice to the price. The TVs are mounted on a fairly unstable stand, the cables are clearly visible on the floor and the size of the TVs is around 27 inches, i.e. small format. Unfortunately the floor was very scratched, which didn't add to the ambience. The bathroom in the family suite was clean and spacious and stood out from the rest of the suite in terms of quality. Another drawback was that previous guests apparently smoked there, the room smelled disgusting and unfortunately the smell was there during our stay. We mentioned this, but the reaction at reception was rather sobering, as we were told that you couldn't go after every guest everywhere. It's a shame, for us this was the first and last time at the Germania, as I expect more quality for almost 1600 euros (3 nights, family suite and a double room).

Wonderful hotel, right on the beach. The rooms are a pleasant size, are optimally equipped and are very clean and very quiet.The friendly service is very good and solves challenges quickly and easily. The rich and delicious breakfast buffet is particularly noteworthy. The city and beaches (west/north) are easy to reach. The Milchbar and Cafe Marienhöhe are close by. Restaurants of all kinds are within walking distance.

Well furnished hotel in a great location. In 5 minutes you are at the beach and after about 10 minutes you are in the center of the city.There is a bus stop directly at the hotel.We were guests for the second time now (with 2 small dogs) and were thrilled again.The rooms, we had an apartment this time, are very nicely decorated.There is a very good and rich breakfast buffet.Unfortunately, there are only 2 places for dog owners to have breakfast (and unfortunately in the hallway area). We had to wait twice to have breakfast...Perhaps in the future we can set up an area for dog owners in the very spacious Deichblick restaurant (especially if there are several dogs on site).The service staff is very friendly and accommodating.The wellness area is very nice. The panoramic sauna on the roof is particularly recommended...

Our first time on Norderney remains a fond memory thanks to the Germania Hotel. Rooms are typically German, a bit “old-fashioned”, but super clean and big enough. Although we hadn't booked a sea view, the sea was still visible from our small balcony. Breakfast and service top, great and fresh selection. View from the breakfast terrace directly onto the dike and the milk bar. We didn't use the wellness facilities because the weather was just too good and we were just outside.

The rooms were okay. They were a bit old, but they were clean. The location of the hotel was great. Directly at the sea. The breakfast offered everything your heart could desire. Coffee, cappuccino, cocoa, bread, rolls, cold cuts such as sausage and cheese, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, muesli, quark and much more. Really very rich. We kept checking to see if everything was still there. The used dishes have been cleared away and re-set. The staff unobtrusive and friendly.

So all in all, the holiday at the Hotel Germania was really great.The hotel scores particularly well with its fantastic location.Anyone who knows and loves Norderney like we do (family, 47, 49, 11 years old and dog) will really appreciate the location right next to the milk bar, 10 minutes to the surf cafe, 3 minutes to the city and basically living on the beach!!!!🐚🌊🌊Our room on the 5th floor with a sea view🌊☀️ was a dream!The beds are super comfortable!We were greeted nicely with a fruit plate and free water 🫶🏼Nevertheless, something could be renewed in one place or another.(The shower shelf was cracked, the tissue holder came out of the wall... and I had to unscrew the siphon in the sink so that the water drained out...)No matter… and it didn’t bother me!🐶What bothered us, however, was that our dog had to stay in the room during breakfast (if he doesn't, he barks at everything), or that we should alternatively sit in a passageway in the hallway BEFORE the dining room.This is quite difficult because the hotel is visited by many guests with dogs and in bad weather there is no alternative place other than this one table.Luckily we had good weather and were able to have breakfast on the outside terrace.Unfortunately, you feel like a second-class guest (especially when all the other hotel guests walk past you in the morning into the beautifully designed breakfast room)In most restaurants it is not a problem to take your dog with you.And this despite the fact that the dog costs €15 extra per day.⬇️For example, I know from other hotels/accommodations that at least a blanket and a water bowl 🦴🐾 are provided for the dogs in the room... That makes the dog owner's heart happy 🩷 (just as a suggestion)The pool in the basement was the highlight for our son!! Just take the elevator (very slow and very warm) to the pool in your swimming trunks... a smooth 10 out of 10!!☺️🏊🏼♂️The personnel was very friendly and helpful!!🌸An Instagram page would be great too!!!!!!!!🤳🏻We would definitely like tocome back 🙋🏼♀️🧔🏼♂️🧑🏼🦱🐶

Beautiful hotel in a prime location and roof terrace. Preferably inhabited by older citizens. Service was very poor with a few exceptions. Nice and friendly welcome from the former P+C employee from Dortmund. His listless colleague on the day of departure, for whom we had to wait 20 minutes at reception, was the opposite and simply unfriendly and superficial. The trunk is not locked. Or you didn't feel like it.The breakfast team was taught to say “good morning,” which worked from the second day. There is a narrow corridor around the good and delicious buffet (scrambled eggs are very good) where claustrophobia and pushing and shoving by people over 70 is inevitable.Cleanliness was guaranteed and you had to “fight” for fresh towels every day.Generally recommended but also because of the location.

Sensational location on the water. Sea view room-irreplaceable. Large rooms, elevator, but also a bit outdated. Nice breakfast buffet with seating inside and outside. Staff friendly, but not particularly present as there is no bar in the hotel. Everything takes place in the adjacent Quicksand restaurant.

Honest 4 stars overall, location Norderney front line does a lot well, roof sauna and terrace very nice, breakfast buffet and room okay, similar to 4 seasons of the Michels chain on Norderney. Room condition is no longer up to date, renovation would certainly be good.

**Hotel review: Michel's Hotels -Strandhotel Germania Norderney**I recently stayed at the Strandhotel Germania Norderney and unfortunately I have to say that my stay did not meet my expectations. Here are my detailed experiences:**Room:**I had room 201, which was advertised as having a “courtyard view”. Instead of a courtyard, however, I looked directly at a wall and a loud ventilation system. This prospect was not only disappointing but also depressing. If I had actually had a view of the yard, this wouldn't have been a problem for me because I knew and accepted this. However, renting a room with such a view at such a high price is unacceptable. For the price of 111 euros per night, plus 15 euros for my dog, I would have expected a better view.**Service:**When I expressed my dissatisfaction at reception late in the afternoon of the same day, the staff were not very forthcoming. I was told there was no other room available and if I left they could only bill it as a cancellation and take out breakfast and the dog fee. The next day the reaction was similarly unfriendly and unhelpful. I ended up paying over 200 euros for one night in a 12 sqm room with a depressing view and a noisy ventilation system.**Breakfast:**The breakfast was also disappointing. The rolls looked like baked goods and were very tough. Fruit was plentiful, as were tomatoes, cucumbers and cold cuts. However, the scrambled eggs tasted like they came from a package and not freshly prepared. It was completely tasteless.**Overall Experience:**For my stay I traveled 160 km by car and also had to pay for ferry, parking and petrol, which significantly increased the overall effort and costs. Given the high cost and disappointing experience, my stay at Michel's Hotels was less than satisfactory.**Conclusion:**I cannot recommend Michel's Hotels, especially for the price. The service was unfriendly and unhelpful, the room did not match the description and the breakfast was disappointing. For travelers who value good service and pleasant accommodation, there are certainly better alternatives.**A notice:**I run the travel blog [German Coastal Islands](https://deutschekuesteninseln.de/) and regularly share my experiences there. Unfortunately, my stay in Michel's Hotels was a negative example, which I will not withhold from my readers. I hope the hotel will pay more attention to customer satisfaction in the future.I will write a message to the managing directors/owners about this and will let you know whether I was accommodated.
