We have been there several times. Always super friendly service, delicious food that is served quickly. There are even vegan and vegetarian dishes. The staff is very child-friendly. Great location. Always my pleasure. Price performance is definitely right here 👍I can't say anything about the rooms because we live in the area

Today we were with a larger hiking group of 15 people, plus 1 to 3 dogs per person.We had reserved in advance and stated that we would be coming with larger dogs. We were assured that we would get an extra room. Well, damn it. We were greeted very unfriendly at the door and then we discussed it with the people. As the boss, that's okay sometimes it's not possible or sometimes it's not possible to discuss things at all but rather to find a solution.We were then offered a room that wasn't even designed for 15 people, let alone where our "pocket dogs" should have room. If I misunderstand a reservation because my German is unfortunately not that good or then please don't leave it out on the guest and maybe maybe Communicate properly or consult if I don't understand something correctly.We went back as a group and had a better end to the day somewhere else where it was much more pleasant.I wouldn't give any stars because my child was 5 years old and I just felt sorry for him at the time.

The positive first: The location is unique and the hike there is very idyllic.Now the less pleasant thing:The staff is, let's put it a little cautiously, very unprofessional, unfriendly and insulting. The blame is passed on to the customers.We registered as a group of about 10-15 people and their dogs. We were promised a separate room by telephone in advance, but it was no longer available when we arrived. We were supposed to squeeze in between other guests with the dogs, although there wouldn't have been room for 15 people, let alone the dogs.The suggestion was then to sit in an adjoining room. This was revoked shortly afterwards and we were told to split up. One half was supposed to wait in front of the restaurant until the other half had finished eating and then the other half of the hiking group was also allowed to go to the dining room.Since the weather conditions weren't exactly great with an outside temperature of 8 degrees, this option was definitely ruled out.After asking several times, we were told that there was never any mention of such large dogs and that it was only reserved for 10 people. It was also said that we were never promised a separate room. But that is not the truth. Our dogs are also well trained and have great hearing. That wouldn't have been a problem with them. Other hikers in front of the restaurant were also able to confirm this. They were also surprised by the staff's habits.We then looked for another place that was super nice and highly recommended in terms of service. We were happy to be served there. The food there was really tasty.I can't say anything about the taste of the food in the Waldsteinhaus restaurant.

So that was the failure of the day today! We had registered for a dog walking group and were confirmed that we would get an extra room. After the hike we were looking forward to a delicious meal, BUT we were slowed down at the door by extremely rude service staff...the dogs were too big, too many and and and...the fact that a hiking group didn't have any Miniature Pinschers with them should be obvious🤦🏽 ♀️Friendliness is not the top priority here🤔We can't judge how the food tastes because we all left hungry and looked for another restaurant

We only went hiking for a short time and wanted to eat something, didn't reserve a table and then spontaneously got one even though the restaurant was pretty full. We were then warmly brought to the table and the food came quickly, which tasted excellent, just great

The three of us had just been to the Waldsteinhaus and when it came up, there were 10 people in there who “just” wanted to drink coffee and a piece of cake.The waitress cleverly ignored us and sometimes walked past us with pillows, sometimes empty...sometimes she handed out pillows somewhere else and talked to other people and continued to ignore us.You can accept something like that when the place is full, but these self-starters don't depend on it🤷🏼♂️After reading similar reviews, everything was clear to me.I just find that cheeky and arrogant, and I've never experienced anything like that anywhere.
