This is the perfect place to bring a group of friends or your entire family or just come by yourself with your laptop to work while being surrounded by nature and having all your needs taken care of. The Green Vale Organic Farm, just outside the small town of Nong Phai in the Southern edge of Phetchabun, is run by the lovely Tukky, a 50 year old woman who left her accounting job in Bangkok to transform a corn field into a farm (organic, no less! so a lot more work) and a homestay (several cabins of various sizes), and a cafe (which is temporarily closed due to Covid-19). If you are traveling without a car, she will come and pick you up at the nearby bus station in Nong Phai. This was such an amazing place to stay and an inspiring woman to get to know (along with her sister and mother and local helpers). If you're working, like I was, I encourage you to stop regularly and take walks around the farm, bike ride to the nearby reservoir in one direction or village in the other direction, or travel a bit further to Nong Phai for the best street food I've had in Thailand.Depending on the season will determine which fruits and vegetables are growing (or whether they've been destroyed by monsoon rains or drought) but you'll always have something fresh here. Recently she has added a couple of larger cabins/houses for rent for large groups or families. Children would love this place but be sure to check on how to avoid dangerous snake encounters (much as I love reptiles, we must respect their space!).Come play with the chickens and cows, too! Or, just sit and enjoy birdwatching (great egrets, red-wattled lapwings, fairy bluebirds, and more), counting butterflies and hummingbird moths, and listening to the crickets and frogs. I can't wait to return to Green Vale, my new "stress-free" place away from the city.
