I Karen Weller was on my favorite island of Borkum for 3 weeks and stayed at Captain Schmuck with the very friendly Langer couple and I feel very comfortable and am already looking forward to the next time in October? , December, and of course August 2021 again 3 weeks. My dream island. The island of my dreams is Borkum all alone. LG Karen Weller.

Very friendly landlords who can tell you a lot about Borkum. The rooms are great and spotlessly clean! A highly recommended guesthouse right on site 1 minute from the city and 5 minutes walk from the beach!!! Always happy

Borkum 2018/2019...my goodness, how time flies again...now it's already 3 weeks ago...but it's still exactly the right time to say:THANK YOU to Gisela & Lothar Langer...our "Käpt`n Schmuck Family"!!...we have been enjoying this warmth from you for so many years...and now this time with a new room design...really successful... cuddly...great bed...I haven't slept so well in a long time!!!...a small, cozy bathroom...what more could you want?...the breakfast room also encourages fun conversations with others in the morning Guests...one makes the coffee...one gets the rolls...the other takes care of the toaster...washing up...cleaning up...EVERYTHING hand in hand...just like at home!!! ...of course it only works with the "good" guests...there are those and those...of course there are also guests who have nuts falling out of their pockets...and are surprised the next day..." oops...where did they come from...they don't clean here..."...these are the same guys who are looking for a new home because of a loose toilet seat in their home country...or because of a visible one Call the NATO crisis team straight away on the power line....it would be better to go to an optician first...then they would also see the fire alarms on the ceiling....(...at least the nut didn't attack the guest...)...but no matter...in a certain way these "guests" always provide entertainment....and it's a good thing that you usually only meet such people on "our island" once!!!WE will come back!!!...it's already been noted!!...because with you...Gisela & Lothar we feel really comfortable...that was the case back then too...and now, where you have done so much work...everything is arranged so well...of course not everything is finished yet...there is still a little thing missing here and there...So what?...everything is coming.. ..if that doesn't suit you, you should stay where you are...and don't take the place away from other loving guests...we always got along really well & we will always get along really well!!!...because we also talk to each other ...and there is sometimes criticism...yes of course...what do you think??...but then please be personal & constructive!!!...and not so stupidlike "nut finders" do... people like that have no place on Borkum... they just disturb the wonderful atmosphere of this island... which I've been enjoying visiting for 45 years... again and again... ..always with new experiences...but one thing is certain:If you don't feel comfortable with the Langer family at Kapitan Schmuck... you're doing something wrong!!!Big shout out to Gisela & Lothar........greetings from WittlichManu & Thommi....

We stayed there for 3 nights in October 2018. I would like to start by saying that I have been working in the field for 10 years and have between 2 and 4 overnight stays in hotels or guesthouses per week. From the Dutch to the Polish border and Flensburg to Kassel. But I've never seen anything like that. We haven't seen anywhere that the house shines in new splendor (see Komepage). You wouldn't even be able to see it if the windows were cleaned. The description on the home page states that the rooms are cleaned daily. I can only ask about the definition of cleaning! Nuts from the previous owner, dust so high that you can write in it, dead flies and a lot of hair in the bathroom that didn't come from us. The toilet lid was totally loose, so much so that you almost fell off the toilet. I'll spare you what it looked like from below. And that too on the day we left. Furthermore it is written: large, modern kitchen. Big yes. And again the question define modern. I would call it thrown together. There was still drilling dust on the sockets, which seemed to be from drilling the holes for the wall cabinets. The landlord's own statement: We are not allowed to renovate from April to October. It's probably like that in Borkum. Then this dust would have to be from April. Even with kitchen appliances, such as stoves, a wooden plate was simply screwed in front of the control buttons. We also didn't see a fire alarm in the guesthouse. Isn't that mandatory? The entrance area, well look at the pictures. Holes in the ceilings, damp, musty smelling, cables from the ceilings... In short, even if the landlord says and writes that it has been newly renovated and he is still there. I've never seen such a mess before. Incredible! And overall the island really disappointed us. Here too, in the pedestrian zone and the promenade. A lot of building facades are in a very neglected condition. When you look up at the actually beautiful Art Nouveau houses on the promenade, you have the feeling you are standing in front of facades in Cuba. Is everything here in the hands of investors? Or is it really that easy to earn money on this island because people come one way or another? In any case, never again! And the one star only because I wouldn't be able to send it otherwise.
