We spent our family vacation with a total of 5 families (10 adults and 7 children) at the Ihlingshof.Communication in advance was a bit difficult; for several reasons. The Schwärzler family usually responded to emails very late (one to two weeks later) or not at all.We also chose the Ihlingshof based on the descriptions on the homepage. At the time of our booking, the Schwärzler family advertised milking cows, driving tractors, rabbits, cats and the lovely farm dog. When we asked in advance whether some activities (e.g. feeding cows, etc.) could be planned for the children in advance, Ms. Schwärzler replied that the dairy farm had already stopped a few months ago and there were no longer any cows on the farm .Unfortunately, this wasn't the only disappointment.Above all, there was no transparency about the costs incurred. The website stated that bed linen, towels and tea towels were available. It turned out that these can only be booked at an additional cost of €10/person.We were able to use the advertised lounge, which was really very nice, but we either had to take dishes down with us from the holiday apartments and then wash them in the really very small kitchenettes in the apartments, or we could use the dishes provided in the lounge. However, there was a charge of €2/family/meal for this.In addition, an energy flat rate of €1/person/night was charged and there was also a waste/energy item on the bill. Our dog should be charged €7/night + €40 final cleaning. We found this very expensive! We think the overnight price is okay, but we couldn't understand the additional costs for the final cleaning. However, we discussed this in a phone call with Ms. Schwärzler and were ultimately able to agree on a flat rate of €30 for our dog.Another point that we will remember negatively was the price-performance ratio. We paid between €105 and €120 per night for our holiday apartments and have to say that these prices are not justified for the size, condition and furnishings of the apartments. The apartments are really very cramped. The kitchenettes were very small and unsuitable for cooking and washing up. Some of the windows and doors were leaking and were difficult to open and close. We can't imagine a pleasant stay in midsummer or winter! Thank God the temperatures were mild and pleasant at the end of April. The bathroom is in the bedroom and is just a tiny area with a sink and shower, separated by a narrow, transparent curtain. This was extremely awkward for a holiday with a child and was not mentioned in advance; There were also no pictures of this posted on the homepage. At least the toilet in the bedroom was separate and had a door. The bedroom was large enough, unfortunately there was no blackout option as the existing curtain was white and slightly transparent. In addition, a dog on the farm sometimes barked very loudly and constantly late in the evening. Both - the lack of blackout options and the noise - were not very conducive to a good night's sleep. In addition, the house is very noisy and noises and even conversations from the adjacent apartment and the ground floor could be clearly heard. What we found positive was the cot provided, which looked quite new and modern. Even children's bed linen was available. In general, there was a lot available for children, such as vehicles in the yard, lots of toys in the house (including table tennis, table football and a children's kitchen) and high chairs. The location of the farm is fantastic! Also the proximity to the horses.A booked riding lesson was very pleasant and the horse was sensitive and sweet. All in all: we won't be coming back.
