We stayed at the top of the castle (house number 14) for a week and were able to explore the Bavarian Forest by motorbike. The location is perfect for this, the Hauptmann family and their team took care of our physical well-being, we didn't miss anything.Great breakfast buffet, very tasty sausage products, probably made in-house. The a la carte dinner menu offers a meat-heavy selection of excellent dishes, but with the butcher shop under the same roof, that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. We had a great time in Kollnburg and we would like to say thank you for the great, attentive service and delicious food.

We were on holiday in Viechtach and deliberately chose this restaurant for dinner because of the good reviews. Unfortunately, we experienced exactly the opposite of the reviews.First the positive:Very friendly serviceGreat view of the Bavarian Forest from the terraceThe negative (the food):Starter saffron soup: except for the color there is actually nothing reminiscent of saffron, I would politely describe the taste as neutral.Main course 1 Mediterranean vegetable and herb tagliatelle: Over-seasoned with herbs, you didn't taste any of the carrots and celery cubes, their shape and taste were more reminiscent of frozen vegetables from Bofrost, even though carrots and celery are in season at the time.Main dish 2 grilled pork loin in herb cream sauce:The herbs in the sauce couldn't be found and the taste was like a packet sauce, the meat was okay but too weak for the priceDessert:A scoop of strawberry ice cream, a scoop of chocolate ice creamHonestly, with my eyes closed I wouldn't have been able to identify it as chocolate ice cream, strawberry ice cream was goodSummary: We couldn't understand the outstanding reviews and it was definitely too weak for the price. Too bad!

The service is very friendly. The food was good. We had a vegetarian Caesar salad. I would have liked fresh bread as a side dish here. Schnitzel with fries (highly recommended), burger (exotic, not well received by the children).

a beautiful and above all very quiet place. No matter which window you look out of, the panorama is simply great, and if that's not enough, there's also the castle tower. For a donation of €1 you can climb up and enjoy the view. (you should do it)the inn and the guest house are in TIP-TOP condition, you just feel comfortable. I was on my motorbike for a few days and the Burggastof is an ideal starting point for tours in all directions.If I wanted to go on holiday in this area again, the first thing I would do is ask for a free bed at the Burggasthof.I was and am completely satisfied.

First class. Super delicious. I had the Brezn Cordon Bleu and my companion had the Wiener-style schnitzel. Both were great. Well breaded and seasoned. In addition, very nice, attentive service that was always there without seeming intrusive. We'll definitely be back

Were just there to eat :)5 stars are not enough, I would like to give 10 🙌🏻I probably ate the best pork loin and spaetzle ever today.It was crazy, we were all totally thrilled. 🤗Service authentic and just super nice guys.

Very friendly staff with a great menu in the evening. If you like good home cooking, this is the place for you. The rooms are nice and match the overall look of the castle inn. In short, gladly again.

Dear Hauptmann family, the fact that we enjoy spending our vacation with you at the Burggasthof because of the family atmosphere, the very good food and all other amenities is nothing new. Another highlight today was the dry aged steaks from their butcher shop. SUPER QUALITY.

We were only here to eat and ended up here by chance. After visiting the castle we were hungry and were very pleasantly surprised here.The restaurant is really very nice.The service was super friendly and the food was very delicious. The children were also very happy about the surprises for the children's meal.The view and the location is a dream.We would like to come again!

I don't live far away. As a wedding guest I thought. I sleep on site.What can I say? I was excited.My super great room. Right at the castle. View fantastic. Super clean.Check in great. Super nice boss.The wedding dinner was super delicious.You could tell it was freshly cooked.The desserts. Super well presented.And the taste is a dream.Service was top at all times. And very friendly.There was something for everyone at breakfast. Good choice. My conclusion: it was really nice! Thanks!

Once again at the Burggasthof Kollnburg, we were warmly welcomed and had a relaxing stay. We stayed in the cornflower room with a great view of the Bavarian Forest and immediately felt at home. The Hauptmann family and their team are all very friendly and accommodating, you can tell that they do everything they can to make their guests' stay as pleasant as possible. The breakfast and dinner were very commendable and left nothing to be desired. Great starting point for hikes or excursions. Gladly again and again.
