I wasn't a hotel guest and was just reviewing the restaurant. The ambience and service are excellent, and the staff are absolutely positive. The food is very good, but the finishing touches were missing given the very high prices. I didn't experience anything special that I think is expected at this price. As I said, the food is very good, but it doesn't quite do justice to the prices. Otherwise a rock-solid recommendation.

We arrived at the Steinernes Schwechen in great anticipation of what we hoped would be a successful wedding weekend for our friends in Kassel. Various rooms were reserved in advance for the wedding guests, so you would expect a certain amount of basic preparation from a four star hotel (!!!), especially for €150 per night. Despite several previous telephone inquiries, when we arrived at around 10:15 in the morning we looked into the completely unsuspecting eyes of a completely unprepared and unmotivated employee at the reception. After a friendly "Hello" had already been unsuccessfully sought, we were told, in a rather guest-oriented manner, that we could freshen up in the restaurant's public toilet and change for the wedding. When we asked if we could at least have some breakfast in the meantime, we were not very kindly told that breakfast was only available until 10:00... period?! At least a cup of coffee?! In a four star hotel you expect a little more... unfortunately none. After we came back to the hotel from a breakfast that we had to look for and find externally (but that was really great!), we unfortunately met the employee at the reception who had already "got to know us", whose performance was then at least "saved" by another friendly colleague "could be.Good news: despite previous information, we were suddenly able to go to our room to freshen up - relief, at least.Bad news: the room unfortunately fell short of the expectations of a four-star hotel: small wet area in the room, only separated from the sleeping area by a chest-high wall. Even though the two of us share a lot as friends, an acoustically partitioned and opaque toilet is probably not too much to ask for. Disguising the sliding door between the toilet and shower cubicle as a design element also seems quite misleading to us in this context. No air conditioning, no minibar, no fridge, no coffee maker or at least a kettle. All in all, poor to say the least. In our opinion, there is still room for improvement when it comes to cleanliness. At least the view of the valley was nice to find something positive at this point. We were lucky and didn't have to sleep with our heads facing the street. Unfortunately, our night was still not relaxing. It felt like I was sleeping in a sauna and in an uncomfortable bed... the description "stoney" at least fits the pillows in this context.Breakfast buffet the next morning was ok.Overall, our assessment is poor to unsatisfactory, unfortunately not recommended and absolutely does not meet the expectations of a four-star hotel. However, the location in close proximity to the motorway was a plus for us.

Stylish and luxurious hotel. From the room you have a beautiful view of the Braunatal. Delightful cuisine. Unfortunately no air conditioning in the room.

Nice room, lots of parking, excellent view (but you pay extra not to get a room facing the street), very comfortable bed!Unfortunately our room didn't have a sink in itBathroom, the sink/hairdryer was in the room. It may be modern, but not to everyone's taste. We would still like to come back a fourth time, but not in midsummer! The room was unbearably warm again, there is no air conditioning, I could only sleep for 3 hours. You should think about the glass doors in front of the elevator. This was already complicated with suitcases and strollers, but it was certainly an even greater challenge for wheelchair users.Maybe a push button for automatic opening...!Breakfast was super delicious!

The hotel was very good. Very competent. The staff are all very friendly...We can only recommend the little piggy restaurant, very tasty. We have never met such a well-arranged chef who satisfies his guests down to the last detail. Thanks to the great chef.

Little renovation in recent years after the basic renovation, here the substance is used! …

The room facing the street was a disaster. It's impossible to sleep 5 meters from the window with the traffic. The room may be modernly furnished, but equipping a toilet and a shower with a glass door that slides back and forth and then calling the whole thing a design room is something you have to do first. The request for a different room because you couldn't sleep with the street noise for health reasons was rejected in a very rude manner.

A highly recommended restaurant with great German and fresh cuisine in a rustic atmosphere. The trip to the edge of Kassel is also worth it for the great view over the city. The service in the restaurant is also very attentive and quick. The in-house beer rounds off the successful visit.
