The Domherrenhof no longer exists as a restaurant and that's a shame, there used to be good food

Catastrophic. Quite rightly closed and no loss for Essenheim. We can only hope that the next tenant knows more about his craft. The last one isn't even suitable for a chip shop, let alone a traditional restaurant.

There was no one, because despite a call the day before arrival and the promise that we would be able to move into the rooms from 12 p.m., no one was there. It was closed on the day of arrival and initially no one answered the phone. After a few more attempts, it was the lady from the previous day's turn again, who said something about "key booking" in her foreign dialect during the first conversation and hung up. On the second phone call there was no reservation, on the third phone there was a burst water pipe, on the fourth phone call there were no 3 rooms at all. On the last phone she said that the boss was in Romania and someone had just changed the number to her. EVERY phone was hung up on ended in the middle. Then no one answered anymore. The rooms were booked well in advance because 3 families were invited to the wedding.Arrival at the hotel at 12 p.m. (not possible earlier), wedding at 12 p.m. in Mainz. But everything worked out because the Hotel Lerchenberg helped us out of emergency at short notice. The Dummherrenho is anything but recommendable, he is unfriendly, rude and it is impossible how the guests are lied to and treated.

Average home cooking with lots of ready-made products. At the end you can get home-made distilled wine on the house - as much as you want. You also need it, because the hygienic conditions in the toilets are questionable. Presumably the tenant's wife, who is generally friendly, is not only the only service person, but is also responsible for the sanitary area - and is therefore obviously overwhelmed. The yawning emptiness in this restaurant on a Saturday evening (!) is unfortunately a warning sign.

If you could give out minus stars, I would do it here. We had dinner there on Saturday with 6 people. We reserved a table and were surprised that we were the only guests on a Saturday evening. It was too cold in the restaurant for the time of year. But that wasn't the problem. The lady was already overwhelmed with eating the food. What was ordered wasn't on the plate and the food was cold. I ordered pork medallions in cream sauce with fries and salad. Not a fancy dish. The cream sauce consisted of an instant cream sauce, which received a spoonful of “sour cream”. Instead of fries there were hash browns, which were cold. Likewise the meat... The meat was lukewarm, as was the sauce, which had already drawn a skin. All in all, the food was very unappetizing. After I asked that I would like the food as shown on the menu, I was given the plate again. This time there were fries, but without salt and as hard as a rock. The meat was now completely cold. The sauce was warmed up in the microwave. At a price of just under €18.00, this was not edible. The price-performance ratio is not right here in any way. A fake cheap AZUR water is sold for €5.50. The EK is €0.26. If it had been branded water, HASSIA, Gerolsteiner, San Pelegrino etc. then the price would have been justified. As compensation, we were offered home-made schnapps from Jack Daniels bottles. That doesn't work at all.The restaurant looks very nice from the outside and makes an appealing impression. It was clean, but the food is not recommended in any way. Baked food was burnt. Here the chef as well as the waitress still have to work a lot on themselves. The prices are also totally excessive. The food was at canteen level!

The motel is located 12 km from the mains in a wine-producing area of champagne.||The business is owned by Romanian citizens.||The staff is very kind. …
