We were there last weekend and chose the hotel because of the nice rooms. We wanted it to be nice in a file school. Instead we would be put in a neighboring building where there was no atmosphere. It's a good thing we didn't have a romantic meeting, that wouldn't have been possible in that room. We wouldn't book the hotel again.

The Old School is located in a great place in Bad Berleburg. There are 2 restaurants and 1 cafĂ© with good to above average quality in the immediate vicinity. We had booked an apartment. Unfortunately, this is about half a kilometer away from the “actual” old school. You can find this information in advance on the Alte Schule website, but not on the various third-party providers such as Booking or Expedia.Unfortunately, this was where the first disappointing experience began for us, which continued until we left: the service. When we asked whether we could downgrade so that we could stay in the main building, the unsure and not really committed lady at the reception replied "probably not". When asked again, we looked at the screen for 2 seconds to hear "are fully booked".So I picked up the key and drove to the booked room.Rooms are nicely decorated. They are stylishly implemented and worth a look. The bed is soft, there are smart TVs in the living room and bedroom. The sanitary facilities are also attractive. Basically the cleanliness is impeccable. The soap in the bathroom was empty on the second day. No drama. The WiFi sometimes drops out. Unfortunately you can hear the neighbors in the building, especially those above you.Unfortunately, based on the location, there was no view, there was a street to the front and another building to the back. The breakfast has a large selection, but unfortunately it only varies in small details and is therefore "boring" if you visit for several days. In some cases, food that has been left lying around but loses quality is offered for days. Examples include the breakfast bacon or the small chocolate rolls.Once again, fruit flies collected in the juices.Overall, it can be said that the quality is very good, but still has room for improvement.

Unfortunately, despite the promise and prior request, the room was not provided upon arrival. We were lied to that no other room was available, although several could still be booked online. The question arises as to whether people with disabilities or dogs were not welcome. Reception at all Questions overwhelmed. But breakfast is OK

A quiet and beautifully located hotel. Good beds. Good bath.Very friendly service, especially with our late arrival. Best breakfast buffet, very courteous service here too.The only criticism goes to the old registration forms that are still in use (in case of late arrival), where only "M" is specified for the gender entry........ Humorous take on this. Will probably be changed.Overall, highly recommended.

For our vacation in Bad Berleburg we booked rooms at the Hotel Alte Schule on a large booking platform. However, we had to register at the Hotel Altes Museum. In the end, contrary to expectations, we got our rooms in the Hotel Flying Classroom. After moving into the rooms, we discovered that the WiFi in rooms 25 and 26 did not work. Last but not least, in the morning we were woken up very early by noise in the hallway; there is no soundproofing. What I personally found most unpleasant was the lady who had us count our cash on the day of departure because she didn't want to accept V-Pay or credit cards to pay the four or five euro tourist tax. She insisted on an EC card, which hasn't been available since last year. We will never stay in one of these three hotels again and we cannot recommend these hotels.

Nice little hotel. The rooms are clean, there is WiFi, small snacks. The bed is very comfortable, but there is a lot of blanket 😉, it's just not microfiber. Overall very quiet, only in summer there is always a concert in town on Thursday evenings, which echoes right into the hotel. But that's only one evening and it ends at 10 p.m., so that's it. Very friendly staff, there is a locked room in the basement for bicycles where you can/should charge e-bikes. You have to walk about 10 minutes to get there. The castle is about 2 minutes walk away. And there are 2 restaurants in the immediate vicinity, as well as a good cafĂ©. Highly recommended for a short vacation.
