A wonderfully quiet place where you can relax. A great wellness area. Tasteful furnishings of the facility and rooms. Unfortunately, I expect different service from a 5 star leading hotel. The employees are either in training or come straight from training. Managers are either non-existent or not visible. There are some 4 star hotels that are significantly better. Unfortunately, the food is no better than standard. Too bad. Unfortunately, the employees don't really know anything about it either. E.g. the hospitality desk employees about the restaurant, etc. I don't want to go into that in more detail here. All in all, unfortunately disappointing and overpriced.

We have already vacationed in this luxury hotel several times, but unfortunately we found that the quality of the food had partially deteriorated. At the buffet, for example, the salmon on the sushi was already dried out, which can also pose health risks for the guests. For the children at La Salle there were, among other things, nuggets and fries that were tasteless and completely “sloppy”. We would never give such dishes to our children.Although the waitresses were very friendly, they sometimes forgot or mixed up orders, which is particularly problematic and dangerous for us as allergy sufferers.We really enjoy spending our vacation at Schloss Elmau, but we would like the owner to place more emphasis on the quality of the food again. The dishes offered were not up to the standard we expect from a luxury hotel. The fruit cake was also already very fermented, which can also be a health risk.We are a little disappointed, but we would still like to give Schloss Elmau another chance because the setting and the rooms in the new building are really beautiful.

A few days ago I spent two nights at Elmau Castle, one in the retreat and one in the hideaway. It was more of a coincidence, but it was arranged spontaneously. I was a guest here about two years ago (but only at the Hideaway) and would like to briefly describe my experiences.1. Room - The room in the retreat was really great - there's nothing to complain about here. We personally liked it even better than in the Hideaway, as we prefer more modern rooms. We only noticed a smell in the Hideaway, it wasn't really unpleasant, probably because it's a bit older.2. Service - Actually, I'm writing the review mainly based on this point. I kept reading reviews complaining about the service. I can't understand that. From start to finish, all of the employees were both professional and friendly, often even really warm. Even the housekeeping greeted us in a friendly manner without exception. Whether in a bar or a restaurant, we never had to wait long for service, even when it was busy. I can't explain what some guests have written in the reviews. Yes, the team is mostly very young, but given that (due to the Covid19 hole) all hotels/upscale restaurants are still looking for capable employees, I can't say anything negative at all.3. Location - I don't have to write much here, I'm sure everyone knows the location is stunning anyway.4. Gastronomy - We only made it to Tutto Mondo in the evening - both dinners were phenomenal, and we really enjoy eating out often, especially in hotel restaurants. Only my friend's pasta needed half a minute less, but that was really all we had to "complain about". The BBQ corn in particular was a highlight because it was so surprisingly good. Breakfast in the retreat was small, but really great - unfortunately that's often the other way around in top hotels. The orange juice didn't completely convince me, I don't know whether it was freshly squeezed or whether it was bought as fresh, which, as far as I know, some hotels (e.g. at Tegernsee) do. In the Hideaway it was surprisingly really good, in our opinion a significant improvement compared to two years ago. For me it's always a plus point: soft-boiled eggs actually have a soft yolk and hard protein, and not - as is unfortunately often the case in luxury hotels - more of an egg soup or still hard-boiled. Luckily the marble cake is still as good as it was two years ago.Unfortunately we weren't able to stay in the bar as long as we would have liked, but the whiskey sour was outstanding and is now in my top 5.We had a small child with us and at no point did we feel unwelcome. Our child also felt very comfortable. Schloss Elmau manages the balancing act between being family-friendly and still remaining a luxury hotel in which everyone should feel comfortable.To be fair (so that it doesn't sound like I'm advertising) I have to say that we had to look after the child quite a bit, and we were only there for two nights - so there will certainly be criticisms, as in every hotel If we had stayed for a longer period of time we would definitely have noticed something. But I really can't say much negative about Elmau Castle at the moment.We would definitely like to come back very soon. :-)

After several visits and years as a regular guest, it is still my absolute favorite hotel. The location and the ambience, e.g. in the evening in the fireplace bar or at a concert, are incomparable and wonderful.The small downside is the service, which has deteriorated a little over the years while prices have risen. Sometimes you wait longer or the employees are not quite as attentive as you would like.But I can still recommend Schloss Elmau 100% and will keep coming back!

The high-quality materials and the stylish design, which creates a cozy and at the same time luxurious atmosphere, were particularly impressive. The cleanliness was also impeccable, which underlines the high standard of the house.Service:The service at the Hotel Elmau was excellent. The staff is extremely friendly, courteous and always strives to fulfill every wish. You don't just feel like a guest here, you feel really welcome and cared for. Whether you had questions about the area, special requests or just a friendly chat - the team was always there.Eat:The culinary offerings at Hotel Elmau are simply fantastic. The restaurants offer an excellent selection of dishes that meet both regional and international standards. Particularly noteworthy is the quality of the ingredients and the creativity of the preparation, which make every visit to the restaurant a special experience. The breakfast was as varied as it was delicious, and the dinners were always a highlight of our stay.Conclusion:Our stay at the Hotel Elmau was a complete success. Approaching through the grove is like traveling into another world. Suddenly you see the castle, surrounded by peaceful nature and you can't help but stop for a moment and enjoy the view. Everything there is designed to make you forget everyday life. Even though the hotel was fully booked, you often thought you were alone. The owner was very friendly and spoke to us briefly and recommended a cake. Check out the stories on my Insta profile, it was incredible. I've been all over the world but I've rarely felt so arrived. If I ever win the lottery I will never leave again. Thank you Elmau Castle for a journey into another world.
