Rustic accommodation with two separate living units, a bit old-fashioned and with minor defects that can be easily remedied (leaking shower enclosure, outdated, unpleasant-smelling rental towels, unnecessary furniture/night storage heaters that take up space, etc.). Otherwise good WiFi, enough fridges, great terrace and great garden for dogs - high fence). Comfort is given.Sonja and Stefan Scholl

Unfortunately, I can't really think of much positive. The location was good, the ambience made a cozy impression with the fireplace. Unfortunately, the two bathrooms smelled musty when we arrived. Unfortunately the hut wasn't warmed up either (we were there two weeks ago when it snowed). We were 3 couples + 1 dog, so 6 people and 1 dog. For the fireplace, at least 3 or 4 logs were left in the basket (they don't cost the world and make a more pleasant first impression). Not only were we saving money here, but we were also forced to go out and buy toilet paper (it doesn't cost the earth, no one would be impoverished with just 1 pack of toilet paper), knowing full well that 6 people would be coming. On top of that, the room layout was the last thing. 1 couple had 1 "bedroom", 1 couple had what I affectionately call an "internal bunker" (room with an internal window to the vestibule of the hut) and 1 couple had to sleep in the middle of the room, without a separate door. This means that if you wanted to go to the toilet you always had to walk past the bed. Very inconvenient. As if that wasn't enough, from day 2 we had a few ants on the couches (by the way, these aren't the ones shown in the pictures on the internet). On the third day we saw where the ants were coming from: They came from the external wall slats next to the bathroom. From there the ant trail led under the window slats along the interior wall to the kitchenette. The ants were then everywhere. They went to our fresh fruit, climbed along electrical appliances and hid under the ceramic hob. A few hours later we found them in droves on the other kitchen counter, to the right of the bathroom. Then there were more and more people on the sofas. On the subject of dishwashers: The door doesn't stay open on its own -.- We were provided with exactly 2 dishwasher tablets for, mind you, 6 people for 6 days! Here, too, you wouldn't have gone out of your way to set at least 1 tab per day of attendance, i.e. 6 of them. The welcome folder on the table contains outdated data. You could no longer do this at the specified location where you could buy firewood, for example. We went there for free. We were laughed at and said, "We haven't sold that for a long time." For 6 of us it was a total of just over €1,000 for the 5 nights. Any hotel with breakfast included would have been better. There I would have had an abundance of toilet paper, had a decent breakfast, didn't notice any strange smells, received more attention and service, as well as having more privacy and no annoying vermin in my rooms. It really was, and I'm not lying, the holiday of horror. I've never gotten so little for so much money. The relationships here are absolutely not correct. On top of that, the welcome folder asks that you leave the hut clean so that it can continue to be rented out “cheaply”. I find the “cheap” to be a complete impudence. Absolutely not recommended. I'm never coming back. After this “vacation” my work is more relaxing. Vacation from vacation...

Even on the third vacation, unbeatable again! Great quiet location. Perfect for families with and without dogs! The apartment is equipped with everything you need.Due to the central location in the Harz, great for excursions in all directions! Wernigerode, Thale, Quedlingburg, Bad Harzburg etc. max 1 hour drive!Small and large circular paths around Hohegeiss invite you to take a walk, with great views of the Brocken and to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets! The hiking trails start just a few meters from the house! In town there are shops for essentials and a bakery with fresh bread rolls. We'll definitely be back soon!
