Located directly at the harbor.Rooms (maybe not all!!??) with a view of the harbor and the boats. Beautiful old buildings on the other bank. Nice atmosphere.Service is of course rather poor, as a youth hostel is not or cannot be a hotel with room service. The staff is very nice and accommodating as well as helpful and friendly. The 3 stars are NOT intended to be a criticism.

Nothing to complain about. The service was great, with sweet people, and the view was terrific.

It's a shame that my child didn't feel the kindness. Children sometimes still need help from adults. And you should actually give the children that feeling of home. The sound makes the music.

Classically modern youth hostel with group and individual operations, which is well and effectively managed by a courageous team. Located directly on the canal/harbor between the Elbe pier and Glückstadt's market square, all places within walking distance, including the supermarkets. Large sunny terrace with access to the garden area with soccer field, beach volleyball and barbecue area. The food is good and varied, small details such as pomegranate in the numerous salads or freshly sliced pineapple, fruit platters, coffee and cake, breakfast buffet with various dips and variations on fresh vegetables. Outside meal times there are drinks and snack machines as well as a teacher's room for group supervisors with a conference table, sofa, TV and bar.The rooms are modern and clean with a bathroom and shower, everything is fine. The team offers lots of games, seating and information and is friendly and open.Ideal for class and group trips, as there are also numerous seminar rooms, bicycle storage and billiards room. The only drawback is the fact that there is no fireplace.

It's okay in itself, but there are caterpillars and other animals in the lamps, bed bugs in the beds, and there are lice there. The taps are absolutely calcified! The food wasn't that good either...

We were there as a family (2E/3K) for a week. The reception was very friendly by northern German standards :-) and the food was simple but sufficient for a youth hostel. At breakfast we found the selection of bread rolls to be very good, you don't get that in every youth hostel, the rest of the selection corresponded to the "standard", if you want more you should book a hotel and pay more.We had to eat dinner outside on the first weekend as none was offered in the hostel due to the occupancy. Here I would like to refer to the restaurant “Zur alten Oper”. The remaining days we were able to add/deduct dinner every day.We can't complain about the room(s) as we received the "Presidential Suite". The former civilian apartment consists of 2 bedrooms with 2 (3) beds each, a small kitchen, bathroom and hallway, has its own terrace and is located in the basement of the building. The furnishings are simple and functional, in keeping with a youth hostel. For the younger generation: WiFi reception is great! The location is of course very nice at the harbor, especially while eating you have a good view of the harbor and the old houses opposite. If the weather is nice, you can also enjoy your meal on the rear balcony. We received some tips for excursions in the surrounding area from the hostel father; he was always very friendly and helpful to us.A day trip to Hamburg was of course mandatory. Our tip: With the 9 a.m. group ticket (4 rings) for €28.00 or €26.04 (if you book via the HVV app) you can get to Hamburg (and back) within 3/4 hours Use local transport there including ironing boats.

There were silverfish living under the bed...The staff was very friendly, with the exception of the choleric hostel manager. This gentleman doesn't seem to have figured out who he gets his money/salary from and how to behave towards customers.
