We were guests at the Hirschen during our family trip. A total of 14 people, including 2 small children. The rooms were great! Clean, modern and newly furnished. Nice bathroom and comfortable beds.In the evening we had dinner in the restaurant. Despite the large group and special requests, everything came together and arrived hot. There was spaetzle for the children. The second helping also came to the table without being asked by the friendly waitress.Meat, fish, vegetarian and the side dishes were great in terms of doneness, tasted delicious and the portion was really sufficient. Everyone has had enough. The starters were also really well received. The schnapps on the house was also included. We were also invited to the bar for an after-work beer with the staff. The breakfast was very extensive and a great selection. There were even fresh fried eggs. Coffee requests were no problem and were brought to the table. The inn with the great hotel remains a fond memory and will be our point of contact again the next time we visit Staufen.Kind regards to the whole team and keep it up!

We were guests in the restaurant. Our special requests were responded to without any problems. The food was very good, the service was flawless. However, the restaurant could do with a refresh.

We have been eating at Hirschen when we are in Staufen for many, many years. We've lived there before too. Yes, things have changed, but they still offer good food. Sure, the food has become more expensive, but that's the case elsewhere. The salad is still the best in town, I think. However, I now had to pay extra for my “dab” of potato salad. I've never had to do that before and then the salad is actually too expensive. They seem more tense. Not so relaxed and friendly anymore. It seems as if it was too much for the hosts. You can see that father and aunt were still helpful even in old age. And the guest rooms could also use a refresh. Maybe just reorganize…… and definitely stay on the ball. The Hirschen is a must in Staufen.

We went to the StaGes at the Hotel Hirschen last weekend and were very satisfied. The rooms are very nice, with a balcony. Great, rich breakfast, fresh fruit, muesli, various bread and rolls. Very, very nice and courteous staff. We were super satisfied all around and would love to come back.

The place is very typical from the area - was what people from around said to me when I told them I had coffee and cake there. The black forest cake was very nice and the coffee was fine. The service was a bit late but I can understand considering the day - had a festival in the city showing about the history. In general my time there was good and if you can to sit outside is the best place.

A visit to the Gasthaus Hirschen in Staufen promises home-style cuisine. – and the Alsatian sausage salad we chose was exactly that. What at first glance seemed like a traditional dish turned out to be a culinary surprise with loving, creative details. The Alsatian sausage salad with hand-cut strips of Lyonnais sausage and Emmental cheese was a real highlight. The fresh preparation brought out the quality of the ingredients to the fullest: the sausage was tender and tasty, the Emmental cheese was mild and nutty. The style of presentation, which was reminiscent of an amuse gueule arrangement, was convincing: various homemade side dishes were draped around the sausage salad, giving the dish a surprising versatility: potato, cucumber, carrot and celery salad, each in its own way own, sophisticated preparation. This variety of side dishes brought a successful balance between freshness, sweetness and acidity into play and complemented the hearty sausage salad perfectly. The atmosphere at Gasthaus Hirschen is traditional and cozy. The unobtrusive service rounded off the evening and let us enjoy the food. Conclusion: The Gasthaus Hirschen in Staufen knows how to “conjure up” home-style cooking on the table. The Alsatian sausage salad is a culinary experience. A must for everyone who loves Baden cuisine.
