Overall, the campsite is beautifully laid out with great attention to detail. We chose this place because of the extensive range of animals on offer. The daily animal feeding under the guidance of the farmer was actually a highlight. However, our daughter (7) was hugely disappointed when we found out upon arrival that the pony rides, which had been heavily advertised on the (apparently recently updated) website, were no longer taking place at all. The ponies are all too old... the weather is too hot... there are too many children on the site... (In this context it might make sense to remove pony riding from the homepage entirely, in order to at least save future guests from a disappointment of this kind! In addition, advertising a non-existent service is questionable in several respects). For smaller children who just want to look at animals and, if they're lucky, pet them, there are many different types of animals here. Older children who would like to interact with the animals hardly have the opportunity here. There is a playground and a well-equipped play barn for playing (cable car, climbing facilities, slide, table football, table tennis...), which is particularly useful in bad weather. We had a normal parking space without a direct water connection. The path from the fresh water connection opposite registration to the parking space is quite long with a full watering can (especially since you usually have to walk it several times). Our pitch was completely under trees, which was a huge advantage given the high temperatures. We expected a higher mosquito count - which was to be expected due to the swimming lake - and took appropriate precautions (mosquito repellent in the awning and anti-mosquito spray). In the farm shop you have the opportunity to purchase some necessary items as well as the farm's own meat and sausage products. We also used the bread roll ordering service (order bread rolls, pick them up, pay with the final bill) which gave us the opportunity to sleep in.Since the farm shop is only open for a limited time, there are two vending machines available in addition to registration (for drinks and ice cream). Unfortunately, the ice machine was constantly technically unstable during our stay (it swallowed the money without counting the amount or didn't work at all). There is no restaurant or bistro on site. At certain times there will be a pizza truck next to registration. This is obviously very busy (at the garbage collection point there are 2 stands especially for pizza boxes). We tested it and decided that given the price-performance ratio, we would rather cook ourselves. In addition to the sanitary facilities behind the reception (swimming pool showers with a fairly short timer, no partition to keep clothes dry), there are new showers at the top of the lake (in a kind of mobile home). These have a partition wall, continuous water flow and large, pleasant shower heads. However, the exhaust air in the shower cubicles is either set incorrectly or is defective. Because even if you just take a cold shower (after swimming), the sauna feeling is included.Otherwise, the use of the hygiene bags recommended on the signs would have been desirable, given the high temperatures and the mostly unsealable waste containers. However, there were no such bags in any of the toilets.A special highlight was the trip to the neighboring ostrich farm. (approx. 10 minutes on foot). Not only can you observe the animals of all sizes, but you can also buy meat, sausage and other products in the farm shop there. Conclusion: The place is nice for “back-to-the-roots” campers. It didn't fully meet our expectations, which is why we will look elsewhere for the future.
