Very nice there, the interior could be renovated a bit, but of course the costs are definitely high, which is why only 3 stars for the rooms.

The location is TOP, close to the monastery and the Vulkaneifel recreation area, almost 20km to the NürburgringThe food is good, there is no buffet service. The condition of the rooms in the "old part" of the building is devastating. Electrical safety seems to be a foreign concept. Broken sockets in the rooms, spots hanging from the ceiling in the bathrooms, silicone seams discolored by mold, defective shower cubicle due to missing screws. There are rooms in which only one socket works, the lighting is not 100% functional in most of the rooms. Sometimes only 1 out of 4 spots works. Some fire alarms are masked, which does not add to the appearance of a safe building. Added to this are the ditettantically connected fire doors.Elevator has no vestibule surveillance and (actually a standard in children's and youth hostels)No privilege feature to prevent children from using the elevator.Great environment, lots to discover. But the building, the maintenance of the building and the electrical safety are an absolute no-go and more of a case for the Koblenz district government.

The Laacher See Haus basically has a very nice environment in which to feel comfortable. However, the outside areas could be better maintained and the lawn could be mowed. The rooms were fine except for the fact that I only had warm water in the shower at certain times and that a lot of water collected in the bathroom after two days because the sink drain had not been repaired despite being reported. The food was good, the staff, apart from the boss, were friendly and helpful. The unfriendliness of the female management is my personal reason for not going there anymore. You're afraid to talk to them. The building blocks offered could not be booked in advance despite early requests, and wood for the fire for bread on sticks was not provided, even though it was impossible for the children to collect dry wood after a completely rainy day. I would have liked a little more empathy from the male leadership during the night hike. Slower and more anxious children were not taken into account in any way, but were simply pushed ahead. He couldn't understand why the children couldn't see anything. He would see everything. No wonder if you've been running the forest route several times a day for years. The highlight at the end of the stay was that ten-year-old children had to sign to take part in programs. When I offered to do it myself, the boss angrily grabbed the documents and completely changed her tone in front of the children. Awkward. Despite the great location - never again!

We were there in a larger group with disabled people. We had the wheelchair-accessible room in the new building. That was really good. Unfortunately, the other families weren't so lucky. Small rooms, 2 showers and 2 toilets in the hallway for everyone.Food was so well. We arrived on Friday. Packaged salami, sausage, cooked ham and cheese. Even though it was a large refrigerated counter, there were only 8 slices of each type on it. For 30 people. You always had to wait or ask. By the way, the cold cuts were also available again on Saturday mornings, evenings and Sundays. The “hosts” were also rather grumpy. However, the view and surroundings are really nice for hiking.

A very well 👍 👍 run house!! The rooms are modernly equipped and have bathrooms suitable for disabled people!! There is no TV, but there is good WiFi!!🤗🤗 There is an elevator in the new building, which saves you having to climb stairs!! Breakfast is offered as a buffet and is very extensive!! There is also the option to book full board!! The hiking trails start right in front of the house!! The region can also be easily explored by bike from here!! The Naturfreundehaus is a real alternative to an expensive hotel or inn for young and old!!

Nice house with modern rooms in the seminar building and rustic group rooms in the old building. There are several seminar rooms/group rooms in the new building. Nice atmosphere, friendly hosts. We recommend.

We were there with a group of young and old over the weekend.positive: location right on the edge of the forest, plenty of space in front of the door for camping, grilling, sports, etc., sanitary relatively clean, breakfast okay, good hiking opportunitiesnegative: old, simple rooms, noise from the motorway and busy country road, the area seems pretty unkempt, relatively expensive (€69 for two in a shared room), there was a lack of warmth/hospitality on the part of the operators

Very friendly and spontaneous hostel parents, great grounds in a great location, simple but clean sanitary facilities. We went camping there as a small hiking group and absolutely loved it. Great youth hostel charm “in the middle of the volcano”.There are countless beautiful hiking and dream paths to reach from the lake house. The hostel itself is easily accessible by car, bike, bus or on foot from Mendig.
